The talk presents two optimization problems within the part of a postal logistics network where collection takes place. First, the optimization of collection tours and, second, the allocation of pickup locations to sorting terminals. Both problems consider not only service time windows at customer locations and at terminals but also complex sorting capacities at the sorting terminals.

Relief logistics is one of the most effective tools in the crisis management. Growing number of global disasters and crisis events in Iran in the last decade indicates the importance of relief logistics planning more than before. Facility location of the resources allocation is the basic instrument in relief logistics before, in, and after each crisis. In this paper, covering radius of faciliti...

Logistics in natural disasters or emergencies involve highly complicated optimization problems with diverse characteristics. The contribution of the present paper is twofold. First, it introduces a multi-period model aiming to minimize the shortages of different relief products in a number of affected areas. The relief products are transported via multiple modes of transportation from dispatch ...

This paper elaborates the different operations research methods used to solve container terminal operational decisions including terminal design, berth allocation, quay crane assignment, quay crane scheduling, container storage space allocation, container location assignment, retrieval, and premarshalling, as well as resource scheduling and terminal logistics in general. Solution methods includ...

This paper discusses the challenges, difficulties and problems faced by humanitarian organisations in running logistics systems Worldwide in Africa and particularly in Southern Africa, with a focus on some systems in Zimbabwe. Mini-case studies of the operations of the World Food Programme, the International Red Cross Society and the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society, the World Health Organisation, th...

majority of models in location literature are based on assumptions such as point demand, absence of competitors, as well as monopoly in location, products, and services. however in real-world applications, these assumptions are not well-matched with reality. in this study, a new mixed integer nonlinear programming model based on weighted goal programming approach is proposed to maximize the cap...

In this paper we consider a capacitated single allocation p-hub median problem with multiple capacity levels (CSApHMPMC) in which the decisions are to determine the location of p hubs and their capacity levels, the single allocation of non-hub nodes to hubs in the logistics network. This problem is formulated as an integer programming model with the objective of minimizing the sum of total tran...
