LiAlH4 and CaCl2 were employed for mechano-chemical activation synthesis (MCAS) of Ca(AlH4)2 and LiCl hydride composite. After short ball milling time, their X-ray diffraction (XRD) peaks are clearly observed. After ball milling for a longer duration than 0.5 h, the CaAlH5 diffraction peaks are observed which indicates that Ca(AlH4)2 starts decomposing during ball milling into CaAlH5+Al+1.5H2. ...

The corrosion, microstructure, and hardness of nanocrystalline AA5083 were compared to that conventional AA5083-H116 consolidated gas atomized powder. was produced by consolidating high-energy ball milled powder with two methods: cold compaction spark plasma sintering. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic potentiodynamic polarization, Mott-Schottky analysis, immersion tests followed s...

The NiO and Fe2O3 powders were mixed by the high-energy ball-milling, followed a sintering of mixture at 1340°C for 0.5 h. XRD, SEM, DSC, size measurements preformed to study microstructure evolution in ball-milled sintered ones, as well. It showed that ball-milling processes resulted severe lattice distortion powder Fe2O3, but only slight NiO. Meanwhile, solid solution iron atoms into was also...

Having a large surface area, high mechanical strength, excellent electrical and thermal properties, graphene is attractive for a wide range of potential applications, including energy conversion and storage. To realize commercial reality of graphene-based energy devices, it is highly desirable to produce high-quality graphene at a low cost and large scale. In this review, we will give an overvi...

The influence of short-time milling on the atomic structure of amorphous Co(70.3)Fe(4.7)B(25) has been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), x-ray powder diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and x-ray absorption fine-structure (XAFS) techniques. Our results prove that the milling process crystallizes the initially amorphous sample and that the degree of inhe...

Nanocrystalline magnesium ferrite is synthesized by high-energy ball milling. The formation of nanocrystalline ferrite phase is observed after 3 h of milling and its content increases with milling time. The structural and microstructural evolution of the nanophase have been studied by X-ray powder diffraction and the Rietveld method. After 3 h of milling, ferrite phase (mixed spinel) nucleates ...

Alkyl-terminated silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) were prepared through reactive high-energy ball milling with contamination of iron from the steel milling materials. Iron impurities in the form of iron nanoparticles cause a decrease of photoluminescence intensity and an increase of the UV absorption. The iron impurities were removed either by gel permeation chromatography separation or by treatme...
