Coherent control is based on optical manipulation of the amplitudes and phases of wave functions. It is expected to be a key technique to develop novel quantum technologies such as bond-selective chemistry and quantum computing, and to better understand the quantum worldview founded on wave-particle duality. We have developed high-precision coherent control by imprinting optical amplitudes and ...

We recalculate the leading nonanalytic contributions to the amplitudes for hyperon nonleptonic decays in chiral perturbation theory. Our results partially disagree with those calculated before, and include new terms previously omitted in the P-wave amplitudes. Although these modifications are numerically significant, they do not change the well-known fact that good agreement with experiment can...

We have carried out an analysis of helicity and partial-wave amplitudes for the process D → K∗ρ in the factorization approximation using several models for the form factors. All the models, with the exception of one, generate partialwave amplitudes with the hierarchy | S |>| P |>| D |. The one exception gives | S |>| D |>| P |. Even though in most models the D-wave amplitude is an order of magn...

Commonly used cassette recorders for sleep-wake recording require frequent maintenance and have limited capacity for respiration and movement sensors. Signal amplitudes are variable due to the head-tape-head transmission. We developed a digital ambulatory telemetric system with better signal quality, less service requirements, 14 signals and specified amplitudes. The system is based on modern e...

Linear Landau damping and nonlinear wave-particle trapping oscillations are observed with standing plasma waves in a trapped pure electron plasma. For low wave amplitudes, the measured linear damping rate agrees quantitatively with linear Landau damping theory. At larger amplitudes, the wave initially damps at the Landau rate, then regrows and oscillates, approaching a steady state, as predicte...

PURPOSE OF STUDY To compare magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) with ventricular pressure changes in an animal model. METHODS Three pigs of different cardiac physiology (weight, 25 to 53 kg; heart rate, 61 to 93 bpm; left ventricular [LV] end-diastolic volume, 35 to 70 ml) were subjected to invasive LV pressure measurement by catheter and noninvasive cardiac MRE. Cardiac MRE was performed i...

Human sleep depth was traditionally assessed by scoring electro-encephalographic slow-wave amplitudes at the globally standardized C4-M1 electrode derivation. Since 2007, the American Association of Sleep Medicine (AASM) has accepted three additional derivations for the same purpose. These might well differ in slow wave amplitudes which would bias the scorings. Some derivations might also intro...

Several Padé methods were used to try to accelerate the convergence of partial wave sums for scattering amplitudes. A specific test problem of longitudinal-to-longitudinal scattering from a spherical void was studied in detail. Results for this test case and the behavior of partial wave amplitudes for general cases are presented and discussed.

The present investigation deals with the propagation of waves in the layer of an anisotropic fibre reinforced thermoelastic solid. Secular equations for symmetric and skew-symmetric modes of wave propagation in completely separate terms are derived. The amplitude of displacements and temperature distribution were also obtained. Finally, the numerical solution was carried out for Cobalt material...
