Previous work illustrated that glucose oxidase (GOx) could be deposited on conducting substrates using asymmetrical alternating current electrophoretic deposition (AC-EPD) to form thick enzyme layers suitable for the manufacturing of highly active biosensors. Here, we modeled the amperometric response of GOx layers to glucose as a function of the thickness of the enzyme layer. The model is base...

In this paper we show that hyperbranched polymers can be used as a host matrix for electrostatic entrapment of enzymes. Specifically, amine-functionalized glucose oxidase (GOx+) and horseradish peroxidase, as well as poly(amidoamine) dendrimer-modified horseradish peroxidase, reversibly sorb into polyanionic, hyperbranched poly(sodium acrylate) (PAA-) films that are on the order of a few hundre...

We investigated the direct electrochemistry of glucose oxidase (GOx) at gelatin-multiwalled carbon nanotube (GCNT) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). GOx was covalently immobilized onto GCNT modified GCE through the well known glutaraldehyde (GAD) chemistry. The immobilized GOx showed a pair of well-defined reversible redox peaks with a formal potential (E(0)') of -0.40V and a peak to peak...

The mediation of oxidases glucose oxidase (GOx), lactate oxidase (LOx) and cholesterol oxidase (ChOx) by a new electron shuttling mediator, unsubstituted phenothiazine (PTZ), was studied. Cyclic voltammetry and rotating-disk electrode measurements in nonaqueous media were used to determine the diffusion characteristics of the mediator and the kinetics of its reaction with GOx, giving a second-o...

The electrostatic assembly of nanocomposite thin films consisting of alternating layers of an organometallic redox polymer (RP) and oxidoreductase enzymes, glucose oxidase (GOX), lactate oxidase (LOX) and pyruvate oxidase (PYX), was investigated. Multilayer nanostructures were fabricated on gold surfaces by the deposition of an anionic self-assembled monolayer of 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid, fol...

BACKGROUND Partial pressure of oxygen (pO2) in blood samples can affect blood glucose (BG) measurements, particularly in systems that employ the glucose oxidase (GOx) enzyme reaction on test strips. In this study, we assessed the impact of different pO2 values on the performance of five GOx systems and one glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) system. Two of the GOx systems are labeled by the manufacture...

The potential use of hydrazine sulfate was examined for the catalytic reduction of enzymatically generated H2O2 in a biosensor system. The performance of the hydrazine-based sensor was compared with an HRP-based glucose sensor as a model of a biosensor. Hydrazine and HRP were covalently immobilized onto a conducting polymer layer with glucose oxidase. The direct electron transfer reactions of t...

We developed a simple high-throughput colorimetric assay to detect glucose based on the glucose oxidase (GOx)-catalysed enlargement of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Compared with the currently available glucose kit method, the AuNP-based assay provides higher clinical sensitivity at lower cost, indicating its great potential to be a powerful tool for clinical screening of glucose.

A biosensor platform based on Au/MXene nanocomposite for sensitive enzymatic glucose detection is reported. The biosensor leverages the unique electrocatalytic properties and synergistic effects between Au nanoparticles and MXene sheets. An amperometric glucose biosensor is fabricated by the immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOx) enzyme on Nafion solubilized Au/ MXene nanocomposite over glassy...

Amperometric glucose biosensors were constructed by codeposition of glucose oxidase (GOx) with chitosangold (chitosan-AuNP) on gold-Prussian Blue (Au-PB) nanoparticles modified glassy carbon electrodes (GCE). The high stability of the biosensors was achieved using electrochemically controllable in situ Au-PB film preparation following the film covering with GOx layer encrusted with chitosan-AuN...
