Glomerulonephritis (GN) is an immunological phenomenon in bacterial endocarditis. These may be pauci-immune/vasculitic GN, post-infective GN, and sub-endothelial membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis. Each type of glomerulonephritis usually occurs in isolation. We report a case of infective endocarditis with dual existence of pauci-immune/vasculitic GN and post infective type of GN at the sa...

Paraneoplastic glomerulonephritis is an infrequent complication in the course of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (21 cases to date). We report a modality not previously described: mesangioproliferative glomerulonephritis and mixed lymphocytic lymphoma, and review the literature on the subject. The onset of the two processes was simultaneous. Antitumour treatment induced simultaneous remission of the lym...

GN in the adolescent requires prompt diagnosis. When even mild degrees of renal insufficiency are documented, immediate referral to a nephrologist is necessary to ensure that serious conditions, such as RPGN, are correctly diagnosed and aggressively managed. In an adolescent with macroscopic hematuria, the demonstration of dysmorphic RBCs, RBC casts, and proteinuria indicates that the bleeding ...

Background: Sub-acute bacterial endocarditis (SBE) rarely presents with features of a small vessel vasculitis. Patients with SBE can also develop multiple serological abnormalities including ANCA. In this report, we present a case of infective endocarditis mimicked ANCA associated glomerulonephritis.Case presentation: A 57-year old male with a clinical picture of rapidly progressive renal failu...

Proliferative glomerulonephritis in humans is characterized by the presence of leukocytes in glomeruli. Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) can potentially stimulate or affect T cell, macrophage, and neutrophil function. To define the roles of GM-CSF and G-CSF in leukocyte-mediated glomerulonephritis, glomerular injury was ...

BACKGROUND Renal diseases other than diabetic nephropathy can be found in diabetic patients who have undergone renal biopsy. Various forms of primary and secondary glomerular diseases were reported, but membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis was rare. METHODS Analyzing data at our Department for the past three years, we noted 18 patients with primary membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis...

A number of 38 renal biopsies and 13 necroptic pieces removed from 51 prisoners were available for our study. From 51 cases, 21 patients were diagnosed with actual chronic glomerulonephritis, 19 patients with non-specific chronic glomerulonephritis, four patients with renal amyloidosis, and seven patients with glomerulonephritis lesions associated to pielonephritis.

Crescentic glomerulonephritis is a rare complication of AA amyloidosis. There are no clinical case reports of this complicating AL amyloidosis. A 67-year-old man developed rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) on a background of primary AL amyloidosis and IgGkappa multiple myeloma. Investigations for causes of glomerulonephritis were negative, and a renal biopsy confirmed crescentic glo...

Several types of glomerulonephritis associated with dysproteinemia, such as AL-amyloidosis, light- and heavy-chain deposition disease, and type 1 cryoglobulinemic glomerulopathy, demonstrate monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition. Progressive glomerulonephritis with monoclonal IgG deposits (PGNMID) is also known to feature monoclonal glomerular deposits, but most of these cases occur without unde...
