In this paper the geometrical description of viscoelastic contacts is described using physical modeling concepts based on energy conservation and network theory. The proposed model is on one side simple enough to be used in real time applications and on the other captures the geometrical features and coupling of a complete spatial geometric unisotropical contact.

A Response surface design of experiment has been performed based on the Muschelknautz method of modeling (MM) for 64 test cases using Box-Behnken design to study the effect of seven geometrical cyclone dimensions on the pressure drop and cut-off diameter. It is found that the most significant geometrical parameters are, the vortex finder diameter, the inlet section width and height, and the cyc...

The commonly used radial distortion model for camera calibration is in fact an assumption or a restriction. In practice, camera distortion could happen in a general geometrical manner that is not limited to the radial sense. This paper proposes a simplified geometrical distortion modeling method by using two different radial distortion functions in the two image axes. A family of simplified geo...

Abstract. The problem of the definition and the estimation of generative models based on deformable templates from raw data is of particular importance for modeling non-aligned data affected by various types of geometrical variability. This is especially true in shape modeling in the computer vision community or in probabilistic atlas building in Computational Anatomy. A first coherent statisti...

Getting accurate construction of tridimensional CAD models is a eld of great importance: with the increasing complexity of the models that modeling tools can manage nowadays, it becomes more and more necessary to construct geometrically accurate descriptions. Maybe the most promising technique, because of its full generality, is the use of automatic geometric tools: these can be used for checki...

This study focuses on using an artificial neural network (ANN) based model for predicting the performance of high strength concrete (HSC) beams strengthened with surface mounted FRP laminates. Eight input parameters such as geometrical properties of the beam and mechanical properties of FRP laminates were considered for this study. Back propagation network with Lavenberg-Marquardt algorithm has...

This work introduces a procedure for automatic 3D modeling and discusses its performance in the context of a medical application, namely the 3D modeling of palate’s casts. The general interest of the proposed method lays in the fact that a widespread use of 3D modeling in non-engineering applications requires automatic procedures. The specific interest is in the intriguing mixture of open issue...

Primljeno (Received): 2011-10-10 Prihvaćeno (Accepted): 2012-02-28 Original scientific paper In today's medicine, especially in the field of orthopedic surgery, it is very important to use geometrically accurate and anatomically correct geometrical models of human bones for the pre-operative planning and implants creation. In order to create such models, two new methods for geometrical modeling...
