We have recently developed an atomistic model of the B-DNA configuration, up to the 30-nm chromatin fiber. This model is intended to be used in Monte Carlo simulations of the DNA-radiation interaction, specifically in conjunction with the Geant4-DNA extension of the Geant4 Monte Carlo toolkit. In this work, 11449 parallel chromatin fibers have been arranged within a cube mimicking a cell nucleu...

This paper reports on a further development of an image simulation chain, and in particular, the inclusion of contrast degradation across an image using scatter to primary ratios calculated using Monte Carlo simulation. The Monte Carlo technique, using the Geant4 toolkit, has been implemented to model the scatter conditions when imaging the CDMAM phantom with commercial digital mammography. Obs...

We perform a detailed simulation of pixelated CdTe detector using the GEANT4 toolkit completed with custom code emulating detector's electronic response. demonstrate that measured tungsten X-ray spectrum can be majorly restored back to original incident developed model, without requiring dedicated hardware charge sharing correction.

In this paper, the authors' review the applicability of the open-source GATE Monte Carlo simulation platform based on the GEANT4 toolkit for radiation therapy and dosimetry applications. The many applications of GATE for state-of-the-art radiotherapy simulations are described including external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, intraoperative radiotherapy, hadrontherapy, molecular radiotherapy,...

Various models of anthropomorphic phantoms have been developed in the past decades for usage in Monte Carlo simulation for radiation protection and other medical physics applications; they adopt two alternative approaches, either modelling the body components through analytical geometrical representations or through voxelized geometries. An original system has been developed associated with the...

The algorithm for the simulation of energy losses of low energy ions is described. The details of its implementation in GEANT4 are discussed. The comparison of the simulation results with the experimental data is presented. 1 Introduction GEANT4[1] is a toolkit for Monte Carlo particle transport simulation for a wide range of applications, based on the Object Oriented technology. The GEANT4 mod...

A general-purpose, object oriented software system has been developed for the simulation and dosimetric analysis of brachytherapy applications. The flexible object-oriented design makes this system very versatile, offering the possibility to configure it for different types of brachytherapy techniques (such as I-125 or Ir-192, for instance). The dosimetric system is based on the Geant4 Simulati...

Geant4 is an object-oriented toolkit for the simulation of the interaction of particles and radiation with matter. It provides a snapshot of the state of a simulated particle in time, as it travels through a specified geometry. One important area of application is the modelling of radiation detector systems. Here, we extend the abilities of such modelling to include charge transport and sharing...

This paper presents the first study that uses the GEometry ANd Tracking 4 (GEANT4) toolkit to do quantitative comparisons with other modeling results related to the production of terrestrial gamma ray flashes and high-energy particle emission from thunderstorms. We will study the relativistic runaway electron avalanche (RREA) and the relativistic feedback process, as well as the production of b...
