We are reporting a case of a 16 months baby who had antenatal diagnosis of diaphragmatic hernia. Postnatal CTchest, however, suggested a distal esophageal d...

Mastroianni et al. [1] report high prevalence (100%) of respiratory symptoms in their cohort of 19 children who received surgery for esophageal atresia. In contrast with the results of other studies [2], they found gastro-esophageal reflux incidence was low (26,3%). They therefore emphasize anti-reflux therapy could not be effective for treatment of respiratory symptoms in this group of patients.

Herein, we report on a 24-year-old woman with a large well-marginated gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. She presented with dysphagia and epigastric pain. In esophagogastroduodenoscopy there was a huge bulging submucosal mass with normal appearing mucosa in the cardia in addition to a grade B gastro-esophageal reflux disease. She was treated with a proton pump inhibit...

Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) are different disorders. The term LPR is used to describe the acid in the stomach that comes up into the throat at the level of the laryngopharnyx. LPR causes irritation and changes in the larynx. GERD is cause by the backflow of gastric contents into the esophagus, which leads to tissue damage or esophagitis and heartburn.

We have recently suggested that the true gastro-esophageal junction is best defined by the proximal limit of gastric oxyntic mucosa. AIM To reclassify adenocarcinomas of this reg...

An association between obesity and symptoms of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) has been frequently reported in western societies. A recent study indicated a consistent association between abdominal diameter and reflux-type symptoms in the white population, but no consistent association in the black population or Asians. It is unclear whether an association persists after adjusting for k...
