A. hydrophila, a ubiquitous gram-negative bacterium present in aquatic environments, has been implicated in illness in humans, fish and amphibians. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS), a surface component of the outer membrane, are one of the main virulent factors of gram-negative bacteria. UDP-galactose 4-epimerase (GalE) catalyses the last step in the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism and provides...
BERLINER, ., and TORREY, J. G. 1989. On tripartite Frankia-mycorrhizal associations in the Myricaceae. Can. J. Bot. 67: 1708-1712. Actinomycorrhizal symbiosis was studied in Comptonia peregrina (L.) Coult. and in Myrica gale L., both of the Myricaceae. Root nodules were common in all Comptonia plants in their natural habitats and in pot cultures under greenhouse conditions. Spontaneous actinorh...
In 1991, David Gale and Raphael Robinson, building on explorations carried out by Michael Somos in the 1980s, introduced a three-parameter family of rational recurrence relations, each of which (with suitable initial conditions) appeared to give rise to a sequence of integers, even though a priori the recurrence might produce non-integral rational numbers. Throughout the ’90s, proofs of integra...
David Gale played a leading role in developing theory of fundamental importance to economic and operations research. He authored papers in game theory and mathematical programming that have had a lasting impact. In addition, he was renowned for his ability to present his results in short papers combining precision and rigor with elegant style. This memorial collects tributes and memories from f...
Gale transform was successfully used to classify polytopes with few vertices; that is, r-dimensional polytopes with r + k vertices, where k is small. In this paper, we use Gale transform to classify r-dimensional generic bar frameworks with r + k vertices, where k ≤ 4; as universally rigid, globally rigid or nonglobally rigid.

We provide a simple construction for a matrix representation of the Gale transform of a simplotope, the Cartesian product of simplices. The matrix representation is a Kronecker product of matrices representing the Gale transforms of the component simplices. We also show that Hadamard matrices occur as a special case of this construction.
The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) O-antigen of Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8 is formed by branched pentasaccharide repeat units that contain N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc), L-fucose (Fuc), D-galactose (Gal), D-mannose (Man), and 6-deoxy-D-gulose (6d-Gul). Its biosynthesis requires at least enzymes for the synthesis of each nucleoside diphosphate-activated sugar precursor; five glycosyltransfe...

We describe the eventual behaviour of the Hilbert function of a set of distinct points in Pn1 × · · · × Pnk . As a consequence of this result, we show that the Hilbert function of a set of points in Pn1 × · · · × Pnk can be determined by computing the Hilbert function at only a finite number of values. Our result extends the result that the Hilbert function of a set of points in Pn stabilizes a...
