It is with interest that we read Dr. Goldberg’s letter. Although finding a pseudoaneurysm is common, the development of hemoptysis secondary to fistula formation is very rare. The observation that CT scan can be used to identify a patient with ventriculobronchial fistula is very important since many patients now undergo ventricular aneurysm repair and may be at risk for this rare complication.
RATIONALE Endobronchial hamartoma, the most common benign lung tumor, is located in the bronchus, and it easily mimics lung cancer or bronchial metastasis. Endobronchial hamartoma can cause coughing, hemoptysis, and pulmonary infection; thus, it should be treated right away by surgery or fiberoptic bronchoscopy. PATIENT CONCERNS We report a rare case of endobronchial hamartoma in which the cl...
Hamartomas are the most common benign tumors of the lung. It is most common peripherally in the parenchyma as solitary nodule or endobronchial lesion. Endobronchial form may cause obstruction of airway, atelectasis and recurrent pneumonia. Endobronchial hamartomas may be treated by surgical intervention or bronchoscopic excision (with rigid or flexible procedures). We are presenting a case of e...
Background: Lung separation is the basis of thoracic anesthesia, which is performed by different instruments. Checking probable malpositioning of tracheal tube needs fiberoptic bronchoscopy. The aim of this study was to compare respirator suggested compliance with fiberoptic findings in detecting major tracheal tube malpositioning. Methods: A total of 256 patients undergoing thoracic surgery wit...
To the Editor: We read with great interest, but equal concern, the recent article by Rosenstock et al.1 and the accompanying editorial by Fiadjoe and Litman.2 Both publications confirm that flexible bronchoscopy “will still be required” and that anesthesiologists in “large number(s)... lack the commitment and desire to master fiberoptic intubation” and concluding that using a rigid videoscope r...
