We report the case of a 29 year-old male who presented with hemospermia. A biopsy revealed an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate and the patient was treated with pre-operative chemotherapy according to the pediatric protocol IVAD (Ifosfamide Actinomycin Doxorubicin – Vincristine) followed by prostatectomy. Pathologic examination of the prostate showed the persistence of an immature tera...

Extragonadal germ cell tumors are extremely rare and account for only 3%-5% of all germ cell tumors. These tumors are rarely associated with metachronous primary testicular germ cell tumors. We report the fourth case of a primary germ cell tumor occurring after the treatment of a primary CNS germ cell tumor in a 27 year-old male with embryonal cell carcinoma of the testicle 9 years after the tr...

Background: Between 2% and 5% of malignant germ-cell tumors in men arise at extragonadal sites. Of extragonadal germ cell tumors, testicular carcinoma in situ (CIS) are present in 31-42% of cases, and CIS are reported to have low sensitivity to chemotherapy in spite of the various morphology and to have a high likelihood of developing into testicular tumors. A testicular biopsy may thus be high...

Primary germ cell tumors of lung are extremely rare. The prognosis is usually poor, with various symptoms seriously affecting quality of life. In this paper we describe the unique case of a patient affected by an embryonal carcinoma of lung and a testicular seminoma after ten years. We also report literature about pulmonary extragonadal germ cell tumors.

also found an increased risk of cancer of the peritoneum and other digestive organs. One explanation for this association is that some of the observed cancers in this category were misclassified testicular or extragonadal germ cell tumours. Extragonadal germ cell tumours have been associated with testicular carci-noma in situ, 28 29 suggesting a common aetiology with testicular cancer. From a p...

Neuroendocrine tumors that arise in an extragonadal teratoma are extremely rare. Somatic-type malignancy, defined as any sarcoma, carcinoma, leukemia, or lymphoma developing in a germ cell tumor, occurs in approximately 2% of all germ cell tumors. Our case represents a mediastinal mass that was incidentally found in a patient with syncope. Surgical resection confirmed mature teratoma with neuro...

Teratoma of mediastinum is rare germ cell tumor. Anterior mediastinum is the most common extragonadal site. Benign mediastinal teratoma accounts for 60% of all mediastinal germ cell tumors. Benign mature teratoma has excellent prognosis after surgical excision. We present a case of 20-year-old woman diagnosed as benign mature teratoma which compressed main pulmonary trunk. The patient underwent...
