Intracranial dermoid cysts are benign, slow growing tumors derived from ectopic inclusions of epithelial cells during closure of neural tube. These lesions, accounting for less than 1% of intracranial tumors, have characteristic computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appearances that generally permits preoperative diagnosis. However, the radiologic features are uncommon a...
Dermoid cysts are rare benign congenital tumors comprising 1.1 % of the spinal tumors, with lumbosacral region and cauda equina being the common sites. Many cranial cases with spillage of cyst contents into the subarachnoid space have been reported. We report an extremely unusual case of symptomatic spinal dermoid cyst that ruptured into the syrinx cavity. The gold standard treatment is complet...
Intracranial dermoid cysts with hemorrhage are fairly rare. Herein, we reported a 28-year-old female patient with a cerebellar dermoid cyst, which was found accidently on neuro-imaging after head trauma. MR scanning revealed that the lesion was located within the cerebellar vermis and was measured 3.5cm×3.9cm×3.0cm, with hyper-intensity on T1WI and hypo-intensity on T2WI. However, on CT imaging...

Four-month-old boy with whitish pupillary reflex presented with the features of GHS in pediatric ophthalmology clinic. The child had ocular and a...
Dermoid cysts are benign tumors that represent the simplest form of teratoma (1). Approximately 7% of dermoid cysts affect the head and neck region, and within this region, they are commonly found along the orbital walls(2). Orbital dermoid cysts occur most commonly along the lateral aspect of the orbit, in approximately 69% of cases. Intraorbital location is relatively rare for these lesions. ...

We present a rare case of fistulation of a dermoid cyst with the transverse colon. We illustrate how an infected dermoid cyst can be diagnosed as an appendix abscess although the management of these is quite different. The general surgeon should be aware of this as a differential diagnosis for an appendix abscess.
