Background: Rhabdomyosarcoma is a common malignancy in children. There are two major types of rhabdomyosarcomas, the embryonal and the alveolar, differing in cytogenetic and morphologic features. The alveolar type of rhabdomyosarcoma is frequently associated with chromosome translocation t(2, 13) and poor clinical prognosis. Pathogenesis of rhabdomyosarcoma remains obscure, and especially it oc...

Primary rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) of the kidney is a rare malignant mesenchymal tumor with an aggressive clinical course. Adult renal RMS is typically a pleomorphic histologic subtype and only a few cases have ever been reported. We herein present a new case of renal RMS of the embryonal histologic subtype in a 26-year-old woman.

Jaundice in children is more often due to hepatic disease than obstruction. Differential considerations for obstructive jaundice in children include choledocholithiasis, choledochal cysts and rare neoplasms. Rhabdomyosarcoma, the most common soft tissue sarcoma in pediatric patients, typically involves the head and neck, genitourinary system and extremities. Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the bi...

muscle. Three major histologic types are described: pleomorphic, embryonal, and alveolar.' The pleomorphic type arises from myotome-derived skeletal muscle (adult variety), the embryonal type originates from undifferentiated mcsoderm (juvenile variety), and the alveolar type is related to the embryonal type. Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma has been reported in dogs, either as locally infiltrating or ...

We report an unusual case of 9.5-cm-sized embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arose from a mediastinal mature teratoma in a 46-yr-old man. A man presented with chest trauma as a result of an accident at 10 September 2011. On chest X-ray, an anterior mediastinal mass was detected. To obtain further information, chest computed tomography (CT) with contrast enhancement was performed, revealing an anterior ...

Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) occurs more frequently in children and is rare in adults. Embryonal RMS is the most common subtype of paratesticular RMS. Spindle cell is a rare variant of embryonal RMS and is associated with a favorable prognosis in children. Data in adults is lacking. We present a case of paratesticular RMS in a 24-year-old man.

Rhabdomyosarcoma in the mediastinum coexisting with metastatic non-seminomatous germ cell tumor, so-called somatic-type malignancy, is a rare carcinoma and has poor survival. This study reports a case of diffuse and huge hepatic metastasis of non-seminomatous germ cell tumor associated with coexisting embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in the mediastinum. A 31-year-old man presented with abdominal pain...
