the accuracy and efficiency of the elements proposed by finite element method (fem) considerably depend on the interpolating functions namely shape functions used to formulate the displacement field within the element. in the present study, novel functions, namely basic displacements functions (bdfs), are introduced and exploited for structural analysis of nanobeams using finite element method ...

A scientific approach to Free Will is described. A model is constructed that exhibits the essential observable properties commonly called Free Will. The model is a deterministic algorithm. The key element is an algorithm that recognizes an attempt to predict responses and has a tendency to resist such challenges. We have created a computer with Free Will. The implications for the philosophical ...

Experiences are described of parallelizing a functional finite-element program (written in Haskell) for the solution of computational fluid-dynamics problems. A transformation prototyping approach using a system developed at the University of York, which simulates idealised parallel machines on a conventional sequential workstation, is presented. In this paper we demonstrate: (a) the relative s...

We propose a new numerical approach for two-dimensional Maxwell's equations that is based on the Hodge decomposition for divergence-free vector fields. In this approach an approximate solution for Maxwell's equations can be obtained by solving standard second order scalar elliptic boundary value problems. This new approach is illustrated by a P 1 finite element method.

In current study, The Mesh-free method based on weak-form formulation coupled with the ultrasound imaging technique is developed. This problem consists in computing the deformation of an elastic non-homogenous phantom by numerical methods (both Mesh-free and Finite Element) and converge their results to the measured deformation by the ultrasound. The shape functions of Mesh-free are approximate...

An adaptive finite element method for solving incompressible steady-state free surfaces flow problems, driven by surface tension, is presented. Eulerian free surface capturing, the pseudo-concentration technique, is used to locate interfaces. This approach adds a transport equation to the Navier-Stokes equations. This system of equations is solved in a coupled manner using stabilized finite ele...

let g be a transitive permutation group on a set ? and let m be a positive integer. if no element of g moves any subset of ? by more than m points, then |? | [2mp i (p-1)] wherep is the least odd primedividing |g |. when the bound is attained, we show that | ? | = 2 p q ….. q where ? is a non-negative integer with 2 < p, r 1 and q is a prime satisfying p < q < 2p, ? = 0 or 1, i i n. furthermore...

A new hybrid approach for deformable models is presented here and carried out in a virtual reality environment, achieving real time performance with haptic interactions. Our implementation consists in using two approaches for the deformable model. The deformation is modelled using simultaneously a Finite Element Method and a Mesh Free Method. With this Mesh Free method, particles are used to si...

in the recent paper, one of the numerical methods without element, for static analysis of thin plates displacement based on classical plates theory (cpt), has been presented. in this method, the domain of problem solving is shown only by the means of a set of nodes, and there is no need to any mesh scheme or element. one of the kinds of element free methods used here is the radial point interpo...
