CPI-17 (Protein kinase C potentiated phosphatase inhibitor of 17 KD) mediates some agonist-induced smooth muscle contraction by suppressing the myosin phosphatase in a phosphorylation-dependent manner. Physiological relevant kinase(s) that phosphorylate CPI17 remains to be identified. Several previous studies have shown that some agonist-induced CPI-17 phosphorylation in smooth muscle tissues w...

This paper reports on a study to answer the research question; why do dairy farmers adopt (or not adopt as the case may be) centre pivot irrigation (CPI) in the Central Goulburn Irrigation District (CGID) of southeastern Australia? Twenty-two dairy farmers were interviewed. Ten of these farmers had adopted CPI, four were considering adopting, and eight of the farmers were not planning to adopt ...

In this work we present Cutting Plane Inference (CPI) for MAP inference in Markov Logic. CPI incrementally solves partial Ground Markov Networks, adding formulae only if they are violated in the current solution. We show dramatic improvements in terms of e ciency, and discuss scenarios where CPI is likely to be fast.

This paper uses STR (Smooth Transition Regression) model to study the nonlinear relation between CPI in China and international oil price. The results show that the change of CPI in current period has a positive effect to the next period, and the non-linear effect of international oil price almost completely reveals the changing characteristics of CPI.

RECENT economic developments have aroused substantial interest in the treatment in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the cost of shelter for homeowners.' From December 1977, when the latest version of the CPI was introduced, until December 1980, the all-items CPI increased at an average annual rate of 11.6%, while the homeownership component increased at an average annual rate of 16.2%. Relativ...

BACKGROUND Choice of hospital based on comparative performance information (CPI) was introduced for Dutch healthcare consumers at least 5 years ago, but CPI use has not yet become commonplace. Our aim was to assess the role of patients' expectations regarding variation in the quality of hospital care in determining whether they search for CPI. METHODS A questionnaire (for a cross-sectional su...

OBJECTIVES To compare non-invasive determination of cardiac index (CI) by whole body electrical bioimpedance using the NICaS apparatus and Doppler echocardiography, and the role of cardiac power index (Cpi) and total peripheral resistance index (TPRi) calculation during dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE). SUBJECTS AND METHODS We enrolled 60 consecutive patients undergoing DSE. Patients ...

Immunosuppression associated with infections of nematode parasites has been documented. Cysteine protease inhibitor (CPI) released by the nematode parasites is identified as one of the major modulators of host immune response. In this report, we demonstrated that the recombinant CPI protein of Ascaris lumbricoides (Al-CPI) strongly inhibited the activities of cathepsin L, C, S, and showed weake...

Chronic pneumonitis of infancy (CPI) is a very rare interstitial lung disease. Its pathological features differ from other types of interstitial pneumonia that occur in adults and children. The mortality rate of CPI is high, even with treatment. We report a case of a 3 month old girl diagnosed with CPI after an open lung biopsy who improved after proper treatment.

Viral fusogenic membrane proteins have been proposed as tools to increase the potency of oncolytic viruses, but there is a need for mechanisms to control the spread of fusogenic viruses in normal versus tumor cells. We have previously shown that a mutant of the paramyxovirus simian virus 5 (SV5) that harbors mutations in the P/V gene from the canine parainfluenza virus (P/V-CPI(-)) is a potent ...
