Background: Management of acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) separations depends on the type, chronicity injury, and patient demographics. Indications: Coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction may be indicated for patients with chronic type 3 ACJ separation who have failed conservative treatment. We describe an arthroscopic-assisted approach to facilitate graft passage around coracoid. Technique: Pa...

The aim of our study was to evaluate the shoulder function after clavicular hook plate fixation of acute acromioclavicular dislocations (Rockwood type III) in a population group consisting exclusively of high-demand military personnel. This prospective study was carried out at a tertiary care military orthopaedic centre during 2012-2013 using clavicular hook plate for management of acromioclavi...

For treatment of acute acromioclavicular dislocation we chose operative treatment in which we fixed clavicule to coracoid with a screw. With regard to the clinical results, out of 6 patients who had gone under operation, only one had calcification at coracoclavicular ligament without limitation of motion. There were no serious postoperative complication.

A gold standard for the reconstruction of the coracoclavicular complex has yet to emerge for the treatment of separation of the acromioclavicular joint. Most of the current techniques not only fail to recreate the original anatomy, but also do not use materials that are strong enough to maintain the reduction during the healing process. Using a weak and nonanatomical construct has predictably l...

Generally, surgical treatment is recommended for Rockwood type 5 traumatic acromioclavicular joint dislocations. Since 1980, the authors have performed the modified Dewar procedure, the modified Cadenat procedure, and anatomical reconstruction of the coracoclavicular ligaments for this injury. The goal of this study was to determine the ideal surgical procedure for acromioclavicular joint dislo...

Various surgical techniques have been described for the fixation of acromioclavicular (AC) dislocations. However, recurrent dislocation is one of the main complications associated with the majority of these techniques. We report a case of postoperative AC joint redislocation. In order to overcome recurrent dislocation after revision surgery, a reconstruction of the conoid and trapezoid ligament...

A high concern exists among physicians about surgically important ligaments such as cruciate and collateral ligaments of the knee, patellar ligament, tibiofibular syndesmosis, collateral ligaments of the ankle, and coracoclavicular ligament. However, the classification of the ligaments is insufficient in the literature, due to their origin from connective tissue. A new classification is propose...

OBJECTIVE To determine whether training on shoulder and elbow surgery influences the orthopedist surgeons' preferred technique to address acute acromioclavicular joint dislocation (ACD). METHODS A survey was conducted with shoulder and elbow specialists and general orthopedists on their preferred technique to address acute ACD. RESULTS Thirty specialists and forty-five general orthopedists ...

Distal clavicular unstable fractures (Neer type IIb) with disruption of the coracoclavicular ligament can result in delayed union or non-union such that surgical intervention is required. Various surgical methods have been introduced, but no gold standard has been established. This paper introduces a mini-open technique for the treatment of distal clavicle fractures (Neer type IIb) associated w...
