Despite the ubiquity of Mn oxides in natural environments, there are only a few observations of biological Mn(II) oxidation at pH < 6. The lack of low pH Mn-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) isolates limits our understanding of how pH influences biological Mn(II) oxidation in extreme environments. Here, we report that a novel MOB isolate, Mesorhizobium australicum strain T-G1, isolated from an acidic an...
A microscopical theory of electronic spectrum and superconductivity is formulated within the two-dimensional anisotropic t − J model with tx = ty and Jx = Jy. Renormalization of electronic spectrum and superconductivity mediated by spin-fluctuations are investigated within the Eliashberg equation in the weak coupling approximation. The gap function has d + s symmetry with the extended s-wave co...
Multicopper oxidases (MCOs) are a family of enzymes that use copper ions as cofactors to oxidize various substrates. Previous research has demonstrated that several MCOs such as MnxG, MofA and MoxA can act as putative Mn(II) oxidases. Meanwhile, the endospore coat protein CotA from Bacillus species has been confirmed as a typical MCO. To study the relationship between CotA and the Mn(II) oxidat...
Abstract Copper(II) on 4 Å molecular sieve was found to be an efficient heterogeneous catalyst in the addition of different H -phosphinates and secondary phosphine oxides phenylacetylene. All hydrophosphinylation reactions were completely regioselective, as only β-isomers formed, E -alkenylphosphinates -alkenylphosphine synthesized moderate excellent yields. The could reused multiple times reac...
Herein an efficient and direct copper-catalyzed coupling of oxazoline-containing aryl bromides with electron-deficient secondary phosphine oxides is reported. The resulting tertiary phosphine oxides can be reduced to prepare a range of PHOX ligands. The presented strategy is a useful alternative to known methods for constructing PHOX derivatives.
Polychlorinated benzenes, dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD), and dibenzofurans (PCDF) may be formed below the combustion temperature in fly ash from municipal solid waste incinerators (MSWI). Copper catalyzes this formation, possibly by the Deacon reaction. Many other elements are also Deacon catalysts or promoters, and here we report results from a statistically designed experiment with 15 metal oxides...
To deepening our knowledge of the behaviour of the silicon/electrolyte interface, a study of photocurrent oscillations on silicon in fluoride concentration cF=0.033 M is realized, and as a confirmation of the result the investigation is extrapolated to a variety of electrolyte compositions. The etch rates of anodic oxides in diluted fluoride solutions have been determined by using a new approac...
Structural degradation and low conductivity of transition-metal oxides lead to severe capacity fading in lithium-ion batteries. Recent efforts to solve this issue have mainly focused on using nanocomposites or hybrids by integrating nanosized metal oxides with conducting additives. Here we design specific hierarchical structures and demonstrate their use in flexible, large-area anode assemblies...
Ordered Li–Mo mixed-oxide films of different compositions have been grown on a Mo(001) surface and analyzed by means of scanning tunnelling microscopy, low-energy-electron-diffraction and cathodoluminescence spectroscopy. Starting from a disordered LixO ad-layer grown at room temperature, a scheelite-type Li2MoO4 phase develops on the Mo surface after annealing to 700 K. The building blocks of ...
