one main group of a transportation network is a discrete hub covering problem that seeks to minimize the total transportation cost. this paper presents a multi-product and multi-mode hub covering model, in which the transportation time depends on travelling mode between each pair of hubs. indeed, the nature of products is considered different and hub capacity constraint is also applied. due to ...

This paper considers the fuzzy inventory model for deteriorating items for power demand under fully backlogged conditions. We define various factors which are affecting the inventory cost by using the shortage costs. An intention of this paper is to study the inventory modelling through fuzzy environment. Inventory parameters, such as holding cost, shortage cost, purchasing cost and deteriorati...

In order to keep up with the advances in nano-fabrication, alternative, cost-efficient lithography techniques need to be implemented. Two of the most promising are nanoimprint lithography (NIL) and stencil lithography. We explore here the possibility of fabricating the stamp using stencil lithography, which has the potential for a cost reduction in some fabrication facilities. We show that the ...

We present a theoretical analysis and empirical evaluations of a novel set of techniques for computational cost reduction of classifiers that are based on learned transform and soft-threshold. By modifying optimization procedures for dictionary and classifier training, as well as the resulting dictionary elements, our techniques allow to reduce the bit precision and to replace each floating-poi...

The basic idea of importance sampling is to use independent samples from a proposal measure in order to approximate expectations with respect to a target measure. It is key to understand how many samples are required in order to guarantee accurate approximations. Intuitively, some notion of distance between the target and the proposal should determine the computational cost of the method. A maj...

In this paper robot control algorithms are considered from the point of view of computational complexity. All the algorithms provide for hybrid position and force control which is appropriate to unstructured environments. Both joint coordinate and generalized coordinate motion schemes are considered. The findings are interesting in that the peripheral processing involved in all methods, sometim...

Search-based optimization methods have been used for software engineering activities such as software testing. In the field of software testing, search-based test data generation refers to application of meta-heuristic optimization methods to generate test data that cover the code space of a program. Automatic test data generation that can cover all the paths of software is known as a major cha...

Encryption algorithms supply confidentiality to communications between parties. However, only under certain circumstances, encryption might also supply integrity validation. For those situations, where encryption algorithms do not supply any integrity protection, additional mechanisms must be implemented (hash functions, digital signature). In this way, many solutions have been proposed in the ...

In this paper, we present the results from a detailed energy measurement study of different TCP variants when used in Mobile Ad hoc Network environments. More precisely, we focus on the node-level cost of the TCP protocol; also know as the computational energy cost. In fact, the computational energy consumption is the most important part of TCP energy consumption. This is already proven in prev...

We present here strong numerical and statistical evidence of the fact that the Smale’s 7th problem can be answered affirmatively. In particular, we show that a local minimum for the logarithmic potential energy in the 2-sphere satisfying the Smale’s conditions can be identified with a computational cost of approximately O(N10).
