in this study, 90 internal organ samples of poultry with symptoms of colibacillosis were obtained from maragheh poultry farms in east azerbaijan, iran. in total, 70 bacterial isolates were confirmed as escherichia coli (e. coli) strains using standard biochemical tests, and antibiotic sensitivity was determined by the disk diffusion method. antibiotics used in this study included ampicillin, pe...

Escherichia coli sequence type 117 (ST117) strains have been recovered from poultry with colibacillosis, as well as from urinary tract infections and fatal septic infections in humans. To further investigate ST117 isolates recovered from nonpoultry food animals, we sequenced the genomes of five ST117 isolates from dairy calves in Pennsylvania.

Colibacillosis, caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), is a significant disease, causing extensive animal and financial losses globally. Because of the significance of this disease, more knowledge is needed regarding APEC's mechanisms of virulence. Here, we present the fully closed genome sequence of a typical avian pathogenic E. coli strain belonging to the serogroup O78.

Colibacillosis accounts for annual multimillion dollar losses in the poultry industry, and control of this disease is hampered by limited understanding of the virulence mechanisms used by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC). Previous work in our laboratory has found that the presence of the increased serum survival gene (iss) is strongly associated with APEC but not commensal E. coli, maki...

background: colibacillosis, caused by different serotypes of avian pathogenic escherichia coli (apec), is one of the important diseases in poultry industry. the isolate o78 is the most prevalent serotype of apec in iran. one of the apec virulence factors, increased serum survival (iss) gene, is related to serum resistance. the usual form of colibacillosis in avian is extraintestinal, and serum ...

Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) is associated with colibacillosis in poultry. Here, we present the first complete sequence of an APEC strain of the O7:HNT serotype and ST73 sequence type, isolated from a broiler with cellulitis. Complete genomes of APEC with distinct genetic backgrounds may be useful for comparative analysis.

this study was designed to compare the efficacy of a phytobiotic containing a mixture of essential oils of oreganum aetheroleum and an antibiotic containing ciprofloxacin as an active principle for the treatment of experimental escherichia coli (e. coli) infection in broiler chickens. two-hundred-day-old broiler chickens were divided into 5 equal groups. the 1st group was neither challenged nor...

twenty carcasses from a small flock of 5000 four-weeks old broiler chickens were submitted to a poultry disease diagnostic clinic in tehran. at necropsy, 19 carcasses showed the typical lesions of colibacillosis such as pericarditis, prihepatitis and airsaculitis. one case did not show any gross lesion of colibacillosis or chronic respiratory disease (crd) but the liver had an abnormal size con...

background: avian pathogenic escherichia coli (apec), which is the causative agent of colibacillosis, harbors several putative virulence genes. an important trait of apec for both poultry and public health is antibiotic resistance. objectives: in the present study, some potential virulence genes of apecs isolated from northeast of iran and their resistance to the quinolones antibiotics were stu...
