The University of Pittsburgh team participated in the interactive task of Legal Track in TREC 2009. We designed an experiment to investigate into the collaborative information behavior (CIB) of the group of people working on e-discovery tasks provided by Legal Track in TREC 2009. Through the studies, we proposed a model for understanding CIB in e-discovery.

The Di†use Infrared Background Experiment (DIRBE) on the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) spacecraft was designed primarily to conduct a systematic search for an isotropic cosmic infrared background (CIB) in 10 photometric bands from 1.25 to 240 km. The results of that search are presented here. Conservative limits on the CIB are obtained from the minimum observed brightness in all-sky maps at...

Galaxy clusters detected through the thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich (tSZ) effect are a powerful cosmological probe from which constraints on parameters such as $\Omega_{\mathrm{m}}$ and $\sigma_8$ can be derived. The measured cluster tSZ signal be, however, contaminated by Cosmic Infrared Background (CIB) emission, CIB is spatially correlated with field. We quantify extent of this contamination appl...

Heavy-ion beam irradiation is one of the principal methods used to create mutants in plants. Research on mutagenic effects and molecular mechanisms of radiation is an important subject that is multi-disciplinary. Here, we re-sequenced 11 mutagenesis progeny (M3) Arabidopsis thaliana lines derived from carbon-ion beam (CIB) irradiation, and subsequently focused on substitutions and small inserti...

The cosmic infrared background (CIB) and its anisotropy have not yet been measured, but are important signatures of the early evolution and clustering of galaxies. The near IR is particularly interesting because redshift eeects bring the peak luminosity of distant galaxies into the near IR, allowing high redshift objects to dominate the theoretical predictions of the CIB and its uctuations. Thi...

Optical dimerizers are a powerful new class of optogenetic tools that allow light-inducible control of protein-protein interactions. Such tools have been useful for regulating cellular pathways and processes with high spatiotemporal resolution in live cells, and a growing number of dimerizer systems are available. As these systems have been characterized by different groups using different meth...

We present the latest results on CIB fluctuations from early epochs from deep Spitzer data. The results show the existence of significant CIB fluctuations at the IRAC wavelengths (3.6 to 8 μm) which remain after removing galaxies down to very faint levels. These fluctuations must arise from populations with a significant clustering component, but only low levels of the shot noise. There are no ...

The genomic features of Azoarcus sp. CIB reflect its most distinguishing phenotypes as a diazotroph, facultative anaerobe, capable of degrading either aerobically and/or anaerobically a wide range of aromatic compounds, including some toxic hydrocarbons such as toluene and m-xylene, as well as its endophytic lifestyle. The analyses of its genome have expanded the catabolic potential of strain C...

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) belong to the Toll-like receptor (TLR)/interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R) superfamily, which is defined by a common cytoplasmic Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain. These receptors recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns and initiate an intracellular kinase cascade to cause an immediate defensive response. SIGIRR (single immunoglobulin interleukin-1 receptor...
