Pure carbon bulk junctions are fabricated based on carbon nanotube (CNT) macrostructures and their electrical transport characteristics are investigated. The planar 1D/2D strand-on-film (SOF) junctions show interesting forceand light-controlled transport behaviors. Considering the excellent chemical stability and good mechanical properties (strength, hardness and elasticity) of CNTs, the SOF ju...

Heterogeneous solid sensors are regarded as promising next-generation sensor due to their excellent chemical stability, low contamination, and excellent recyclability, despite their low sensitivity and weak signal. The dispersity and signals specifically from the exterior of solid sensors are critical aspects which define the sensing sensitivity and selectivity. A novel strategy for the prepara...

In reducing the high operating temperatures (≥800 °C) of solid-oxide fuel cells, use of protonic ceramics as an alternative electrolyte material is attractive due to their high conductivity and low activation energy in a low-temperature regime (≤600 °C). Among many protonic ceramics, yttrium-doped barium zirconate has attracted attention due to its excellent chemical stability, which is the mai...

The chemical stability of biogenic UO2, a nanoparticulate product of environmental bioremediation, may be impacted by the particles' surface free energy, structural defects, and compositional variability in analogy to abiotic UO(2+x) (0 < or = x < or = 0.25). This study quantifies and compares intrinsic solubility and dissolution rate constants of biogenic nano-UO2 and synthetic bulk UO2.00, ta...

In our study, we show by solid-state (15)N NMR measurements that an important zirconium metal-organic framework (UiO-66) with amino-functionalized links is composed of a mixture of amino and -NH(3)(+)Cl(-) salt functionalities rather than all amino functionality to give a composition of Zr(6)O(4)(OH)(4)(BDC-NH(2))(4)(BDC-NH(3)(+)Cl(-))(2) (UiO-66-A). UiO-66-A was postsynthetically modified to f...

An immobilised iridium hydrogen transfer catalyst has been developed for use in flow based processing by incorporation of a ligand into a porous polymeric monolithic flow reactor. The monolithic construct has been used for several redox reductions demonstrating excellent recyclability, good turnover numbers and high chemical stability giving negligible metal leaching over extended periods of use.

The ferrite process is an established method for treating wastewaters containing dissolved toxic metals, using precipitation at temperatures above 65 °C. Various ambient-temperature operation methodologies have also been proposed, but the effects of temperature reduction on product stability, and on the extent of isomorphous substitution (in terms of x in Me(x)Fe(3-x)O(4), Me representing a non...

The artificial protein Octarellin V.1 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jsb.2016.05.004[1]) was obtained through a direct evolution process over the de novo designed Octarellin V (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S0022-2836(02)01206-8[2]). The protein has been characterized by circular dichroism and fluorescence techniques, in order to obtain data related to its thermo and chemical stability. Moreover, the...

Organic molecules are currently investigated as redox species for aqueous low-cost redox flow batteries (RFBs). The envisioned features of using organic redox species are low cost and increased flexibility with respect to tailoring redox potential and solubility from molecular engineering of side groups on the organic redox-active species. In this paper 33, mainly quinone-based, compounds are s...

Methods of rapidly and accurately assessing the chemical stability of pharmaceutical dosage forms are reviewed with respect to the major degradation mechanisms generally observed in pharmaceutical development. Methods are discussed, with the appropriate caveats, for accelerated aging of liquid and solid dosage forms, including small and large molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients. In parti...
