• E The rope is tied around a cylindrical pole by dual 6 D.O.F direct drive manipulators. • E The manipulators confirm that the rope is grasped by both hands using the force sensor. • E A flexible object model and a CCD camera vision system are used to recognize the shape of the rope.

We have measured gluon splitting into bottom quarks, g → bb̄, in hadronic Z0 decays collected by SLD between 1996 and 1998. The analysis was performed by looking for secondary bottom production in 4-jet events of any primary flavor. 4-jet events were identified, and in each event a topological vertex-mass technique was applied to the two jets closest in angle in order to identify them as b or b̄ ...

It is found that the magnetic length has not been treated correctly to calculate the classical action. In fact, the charge and the magnetic length have not been resolved. It is of serious consequences, because fractional charge completely disappears and only the flux area, l 2 o becomes fractional. The results of Kivelson et al are therefore not unique.

The noise of a digital charge coupled device (CCD) detector increases with the readout speed, causing problems in a number of important applications, such as x-ray fluoroscopy and micro-CT. In this paper, we present an approach for the design of a dual-CCD configuration to improve the average signal-to-noise ratio, and hence provide an inexpensive solution within the constraint of the current t...

This paper presents a computer-aided diagnosis for pneumoconiosis radiographs obtained with a common CCD scanner. Since the existing diagnosis systems for pneumo coniosis extract abnormalities of pneumoconiosis from im ages obtained with a special scanner which can appropri ately apply for chest radiographs, it is difficult to apply the systems to images obtained with a CCD scanner du...

Desigii considerations arc presented for rarlgefiilders wliiclii ernploy active triaiigulatinri. Tlie geometric tradeoffs for coiiveritiorial triangulation gcoirietries are identified, aiid the way i n wliicli tliesc can be iiiiiiirnised using a synchronized scaiiiiiiig approach is dcscribed. We compare the perfurlrialice of the cliargecoupled device (CCD) and lateral-effect pliotocliode (LEP) ...

A calibration program was carried out to determine the spectroscopic LSFs at the pseudo-aperture locations (E1 apertures) for the first order CCD modes. Observations were taken with the narrowest 52X0.05 acrsec slit to minimize the effect of the aperture on the determination of the LSFs. Observations were repeated in the nominal location (close to the middle of the detector) as well as the pseu...

This paper describes a framework for analyzing video sequences of a driver and determining his level of attention. The proposed system deals with the computation of eyelid movement parameters and head (face) orientation estimation. The system relies on pupil detection to robustly track the driver’s head pose and monitoring its level of fatigue. Visual information is acquired using a specially d...
