Objective: This study investigated the expression of chemotactic factor CCL5 in gastric cancer tissue and its correlation with macrophage marker CD86. Methods: Fifty patients diagnosed with gastric cancer in our hospital from Jan 2015 to Dec 2016 were selected. Pathological tissue samples were tested. Results: The expression levels of CCL5 and CD68 correlate with tumour size, degree of tumour i...

Chemokines and their receptors have key roles in cancer progression. The present study investigated chemokine activity in the prostate cancer bone metastasis microenvironment. Growth and migration of human prostate cancer cells were assayed in cocultures with bone stromal cells. The migration of LNCaP cells significantly increased when co-cultured with bone stromal cells isolated from prostate ...

AIMS The chemokine CCL5 plays a critical role as neutrophil and macrophage activator do in atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction. Thus, we investigated whether the treatment with a neutralizing monoclonal antibody (mAb) to mouse CCL5 would provide therapeutic benefit when provoking a coronary-associated ischaemic event. METHODS AND RESULTS C57Bl/6 mice were submitted to left coronary arte...

The expression and putative role of chemokines during infection with Leishmania major in mice were investigated. CCL5 expression correlates with resistance, and blockade of CCL5 rendered mice more susceptible to infection. CCL5 is part of the cascade of events leading to efficient parasite control in L. major infection.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant brain tumor in adults, with a median survival of 15 months. These poor clinical outcomes have prompted the development of drugs that block neoplastic cancer cell growth; however, non-neoplastic cell-derived signals (chemokines and cytokines) in the tumor microenvironment may also represent viable treatment targets. One such chemokine, Ccl5, produc...

The CC-chemokine regulated on activation, normal T-cell expressed, and presumably secreted (RANTES)/CCL5 mediates its biological activities through activation of G protein-coupled receptors, CCR1, CCR3, or CCR5, and binds to glycosaminoglycans. This study was undertaken to investigate whether this chemokine is involved in hepatoma cell migration or invasion and to modulate these effects in vitr...

The multistep, coordinated process of T-cell chemotaxis requires chemokines, and their chemokine receptors, to invoke signaling events to direct cell migration. Here, we examined the role for CCL5-mediated initiation of mRNA translation in CD4(+) T-cell chemotaxis. Using rapamycin, an inhibitor of mTOR, our data show the importance of mTOR in CCL5-mediated T-cell migration. Cycloheximide, but n...

Inappropriate activation of the renin angiotensin system (RAS) is a key contributor to the pathogenesis of essential hypertension. During RAS activation, infiltration of immune cells into the kidney exacerbates hypertension and renal injury. However, the mechanisms underpinning the accumulation of mononuclear cells in the kidney after RAS stimulation remain unclear. C-C motif chemokine 5 (CCL5)...

Increased CCL5 levels are markers of an unfavourable outcome in patients with melanoma, breast, cervical, prostate, gastric or pancreatic cancer. Here, we have assessed the role played by CCL5/CCR5 interactions in the development of colon cancer. To do so, we have examined a number of human colorectal carcinoma clinical specimens and found CCL5 and its receptors over-expressed within primary as...

OBJECTIVE To examine the role of adipose-produced chemokine, chemokine ligand (CCL) 5, on the recruitment and survival of macrophages in human white adipose tissue (WAT). METHODS AND RESULTS CCL5 levels measured by enzyme immunoassay in serum and by real-time polymerase chain reaction in WAT were higher in obese compared to lean subjects. CCL5, but not CCL2, secretion was higher in visceral c...
