Intracranial arteriovenous malformation is rarely presented in newborns or infants. We describe an unusual case of congenital arteriovenous malformation of the brain with multiple sequestered grape-like venous sacs presented with congenital hydrocephalus. This 4-month-old girl born with a large head, presented with progressive hydrocephalus over a period of 4 months. The brain CT showed multilo...

A placental site trophoblastic tumor requires care in management and a prompt diagnosis. Placental site trophoblastic tumor is a rare type of gestational trophoblastic disease and displays non-specific presentations similar to those of uterine arteriovenous malformation and those of non-neoplastic gestational trophoblastic diseases such as placental polypoid tumor. Diagnosis from biopsy is extr...

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation is an abnormal communication between artery and a vein, causing clinical manifestations, such as chronic hypoxemia embolic events. Arteriovenous malformations were treated surgically, with significant rate of complications. In the 1970 ́s, first percutaneous catheter embolization was performed coils. We describe three cases in which techniques effective to pr...

A 29-yr-old patient with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia was referred to the present authors' centre with progressive exertional dyspnoea. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) was suspected on Doppler echocardiography and confirmed by right heart catheterisation demonstrating severe PAH. Genetic analysis found an activin receptor-like kinase-1 gene missense mutation. Chest radiography a...

CONTEXT Although rare, a pancreatic arteriovenous malformation can have serious consequences. A diagnosis of arteriovenous malformation requires evidence of aberrant communication between the arterial and the venous systems. This report describes a case where the use of multi-detector row CT and specific post-processing methods provided a diagnosis of arteriovenous malformation. This minimally ...

A case of an intracerebral arteriovenous malformation that grew is presented. On the initial arteriogram only one early filling vein was seen in the region where a large arteriovenous malformation was present eight years later. The patient's headaches were relieved by antihypertensive medications. The authors speculate that distension of the AVM caused the headaches.

Vein of Galen malformation (VGAM) results from an aneurysmal aberration with an arteriovenous shunting of blood. Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations are the most frequent arteriovenous malformations in infants and fetuses. The congenital malformation develops during weeks 6-11 of fetal development. Infants often die from high-output congestive heart failure.

Arteriovenous malformation of the gut is well known to have been an important bleeding focus in past ages. We report a young Korean male patient, who had been known to have ventricular septal defect, presenting massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding from an arteriovenous malformation involving a long segment of the left colon. Angiographic, gross and histologic findings are presented and the l...

PURPOSE To report the comprehensive superselective angiographic characteristics of aneurysms associated with cerebral arteriovenous malformations. METHOD One hundred consecutive patients referred for cerebral arteriovenous malformation embolization underwent preembolization superselective angiography. Superselective angiograms were obtained after microcatheterization of arteriovenous malforma...
