A 59-year-old man developed a fast-growing mycotic innominate artery pseudoaneurysm complicating medically-treated mitral endocarditis caused by methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus. The pseudoaneurysm was revealed by ultrasound of the supra-aortic trunks and confirmed by magnetic resonance angiography (Fig. 1). The surgical treatment was performed with resection of the pseudoaneurysm ...

BACKGROUND Delayed presentation of post-traumatic aortic pseudoaneurysm and its fistulous communication with the right renal vein is a very rare entity. Most of the cases described in literature are due to abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture into the left renal vein. We herein report an unusual case of an infected descending aortic pseudoaneurysm with luminal pathognomonic oscillating vegetation with serological findings and clinical features mimicking anti-proteinase 3-antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis. The positive blood cultures and imaging findings, including a pseudoaneurysm and vegetations in the aorta, suggested the presence o...

Prosthetic aortic valve replacement for aortic valve endocarditis remains a primary practice of most cardiac surgeons. Usually it cures endocarditis and restores cardiac function. However, in advanced aortic valve endocarditis with complex annular destruction, complications following prosthetic aortic valve replacement do occur and present a formidable challenge for reoperation. Herein, we desc...

Left ventricular outflow tract pseudoaneurysm is an uncommon complication following aortic valve replacement (AVR), occurring most frequently secondary to endocarditis. We present a case of a 47-year-old female with a history of intravenous drug abuse and a past surgical history of two AVRs (2001 and 2009 with aortic root replacement for endocarditis) who presented with symptoms of lower extrem...

A pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta is an unusual and potentially fatal complication after aortic surgical operations. TEE and CT scan are the investigations of choice. Surgical treatment is mandatory. We describe the successful management of a pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta, with aorto-sternal-cutaneous fistula requiring right axillary and femoral artery cannulation with Remote Acce...

A 69-year old man underwent ascending aorta grafting and aortic valve replacement for an acute aortic dissection. Nine months later, he suffered from painful ecchymosis and swelling of the sternal wound (Fig. 1). Computed tomography revealed a huge pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta (Fig. 2). Reoperation was successfully performed to repair the anasto-motic suture line tears. Figure 1: Promi...
