A facile access to polysubstituted 3-(isoxazol-5-yl)pyrroles was developed through [3+2] cycloaddition of tosylmethyl isocyanide (TosMIC) and styrylisoxazoles. In the presence of KOH, various styrylisoxazoles reacted smoothly with tosylmethyl isocyanide and analogs to deliver a wide range of 3-(isoxazol-5-yl)pyrroles at ambient temperature. This transformation is operationally simple, high-yiel...

A palladium-catalyzed reaction of 2-iodoarylcarbodiimide, isocyanide, and phosphite leads to 4-imino-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-2-ylphosphonates in moderate to good yields. Three bonds are formed in a one pot procedure and the tandem process includes nucleophilic attack, isocyanide insertion, and C-N coupling.

The interaction of imines with isocyanides has been studied. The main product results from a sequential process involving the attack of two units of isocyanide, under Lewis acid catalysis, upon the carbon-nitrogen double bond of the imine to form the 4-membered ring system. The scope of the reaction regarding the imine and isocyanide ranges has been determined, and also some mechanistic variati...

The title compound, [Ni(C(5)H(9)N)(3)(CO)], was prepared from Ni(CO)(4) and a tenfold excess of tert-butyl isocyanide. It crystallizes with two symmetry-independent mol-ecules per asymmetric unit. The central Ni atom of each independent mol-ecule has a nearly perfect tetra-hedral coordination environment, comprising one carbon monoxide and three isocyanide ligands. The title compound is the fir...

The binding of n-butyl isocyanide to human hemoglobin has been examined by means of rapid mixing and chemical relaxation kinetics. It is seen that an extended Adair scheme (ADAIR, G. S. (1925) .I. BioZ. Chem. 63, 529) can be applied to describe the kinetic data. Two relaxation processes are observed which are attributed to binding of ligand to the LY and /3 subunits. The effect of temperature o...

Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) are extremely popular owing to their facile execution, high atom-efficiency and the high diversity of products. MCRs can be used to access various heterocycles and highly functionalized scaffolds, and thus have been invaluable tools in total synthesis, drug discovery and bioconjugation. Traditional isocyanide-based MCRs utilize an external nucleophile attacking t...
