We investigated the effects of lasers irradiation on the exposed dentinal tubule. Human tooth specimens with exposed dentinal tubule orifices were used. Three types of lasers (CO(2) laser, Er:YAG laser and Ga-Al-As laser) were employed. The parameters were 1.0 W in continuous-wave mode with an irradiation time of 30 s for the CO(2) laser, 30 mJ in continuous-wave mode with an irradiation time o...

[1] We compare Arecibo dual-polarization radar image data for Venus to Magellan images and emissivity data to investigate the physical properties of volcanic deposits. Radar waves can easily penetrate smooth mantling layers such as ash, aeolian and craterderived deposits. If a circularly polarized radar wave refracts into a surface that is smooth at wavelength scales, the vertical component of ...

A d-wave superconductor with isolated strong non-magnetic impurities should exhibit an upturn in the penetration depth at low temperatures [1]. Here we calculate how an external magnetic field supresses this effect.

Here, we present a rapid and reproducible procedure based on square-wave pulse electroporation that allows efficient penetration of synthetic oligonucleotides into intact yeast cells. This procedure was successfully used to modify the yeast genome with small amounts of oligonucleotide.

OBJECTIVE To compare the histologic appearance of canine skin biopsies collected by use of a scalpel, skin biopsy punch, monopolar electrosurgery, CO2 laser, and radio wave radiosurgery in fully rectified wave form (RWRS). STUDY DESIGN Experimental, randomized design. ANIMALS Healthy adult grayhounds (n=4). METHODS Skin biopsies were collected using 5 techniques. Cut margins of biopsy spe...

We employ an analogy to traditional dynamic light scattering to describe the inhomogeneous and anisotropic diffusion of colloid particles near a solid boundary measured via evanescent wave dynamic light scattering. Following this approach, we generate new expressions for the short-time self- and collective diffusivities of colloidal dispersions with arbitrary volume fraction. We use these expre...
