I characterize the class of (possibly incomplete) preference relations over lotteries which can be represented by a compact set of (continuous) expected utility functions that preserve both indifferences and strict preferences. This finding contrasts with the representation theorem of Dubra, Maccheroni and Ok (2004) which typically delivers some functions which do not respect strict preferences...
We study the implications of the single crossing conditions for preferences described by binary relations. All restrictions imposed on the preferences are satisfied in the case of approximate optimization of a bounded-above utility function. In the context of the choice of a single agent, the transitivity of strict preferences ensures that the best response correspondence is increasing in the s...
This paper describes a prototype tool that facilitates the process of understanding and managing multi-language program dependencies. More specifically, the software tool maintains a repository of host-to-foreign language dependencies between C/C++ and Java code. We describe some program comprehension features of the tool and we discuss a preliminary case study performed in order to verify its ...
Recently, many software visualization (SV) techniques and tools have become available. There is ample anecdotal evidence that appropriate visualization can significantly reduce the effort spent on system comprehension and maintenance, yet we are not aware of any quantitative investigation and survey of SV tools. This paper reports on a survey on SV tools which was conducted in spring 2000 with ...
In this paper, the Multi-Section Transformers (MSTs), the lengths of whose sections are not the same, are proposed and considered as matchers between two complex and frequency dependent impedances in a wide frequency range. The optimum values of the MST parameters are obtained through optimization approach. The usefulness of the proposed structure is verified using some examples.
The EmoCyclingConcept uses methods of human sensoring to identify potential locations of stress in urban traffic for cyclists. Therefore sensors measure vital data of people while geo-locating it. In further analysis the psycho-physiological data can then be interpreted as stress. The knowledge drawn from the results can help planners to identify the specific reasons of problems to derive suita...
