The underground uranium mine Königstein (Saxony, Germany), currently in the process of remediation, represents an underground acid mine drainage (AMD) environment, that is, low pH conditions and high concentrations of heavy metals including uranium, in which eye-catching biofilm formations were observed. During active uranium mining from 1984 to 1990, technical leaching with sulphuric acid was ...
Abstract. Long-range, low-power, wide-area network modulation technique (LoRa) is already used in a variety of fields, such as agriculture and healthcare, to reliably transmit small amount data above ground. Research measuring the reliability signal strength LoRa devices underground, however, rare. The purpose this study test from shallow-depth, underground conditions. experiments are divided i...
A new measuring instrument for 10 points soil temperatures in 0~50 centimeters depth underground was designed. System was based on Silicon Laboratories’ MCU C8051F310, single chip digital temperature sensor DS18B20, and other peripheral circuits. It was simultaneously able to measure, memory and display, and also convey data to computer via a standard RS232 interface.
The detection of high energy cosmic ray interactions at the medium depth underground is studied. Detected high energy muons carry information about the initial interaction. This might reveal the effects resulting from creation of quark gluon plasma at high energy interactions of iron nuclei contained in cosmic rays with the air. submitted to Astroparticle Physics ∗) e-mail:[email protected]
Narrow muon bundles in underground detectors permit to study muoproduction reactions that take place in the surrounding rock. We analyze the relevance of a QED+QCD reaction, muoproduction of “open charm”. The contribution to double muon events is estimated to be 4% of the one due to QED “trident” process, for an ideal detector located under a rock depth of 3 km water equivalent, and an observat...
Deformation modulus of rock mass has a significant role in the support design of an underground excavation. It is determined by expensive in-situ tests or by empirical models. Existing models for estimation of deformation modulus do not consider its stress dependence. Herein, data from several sources is used to develop a stress- (depth-) dependent relation for estimation of deformation modulus...
In the framework of collection and identification of fungi of Zagros mountains (W and SW Iran), specimens of agaric fungi with subterraneandevelopment were collected from oak forests in Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari province. Native people of Dopolan and Rahimabad used hypogeous fruit-bodies of fungus as edible fungi. Excavation was done and fungal samples were found at 15–30 cm soil depth, near Oak...
