Cases Traumatic intracranial aneurysm following blunt head injury is uncommon but can be induced by extension of skull base fracture and causes unexpected hemorrhagic complications. We present two cases of traumatic intracranial aneurysm in the paraclinoid area that was revealed by delayed massive epistaxis. Lack of initial neurological deficits omitted screening for cerebrovascular injury. O...

Aneurysm of the thoracic aorta may follow severe, nonpenetrating injuries of the thorax unaccompanied by rib fractures. The aneurysms characteristically appear in the first portion of the descending aorta or less commonly in the proximal ascending portion. A large aneurysm, progressive enlargement, or symptoms may necessitate excision or repair. Such repair is now feasible. Traumatic aortic ane...

This is a case of idiopathic pulmonary calcification and ossification in a 70 year old with long-standing diabetes and hypertension. Thirteen years prior to her demise, she was first noticed to have multiple calcific deposits in her lungs on a chest X-ray film. She had no risk factors for soft tissue calcification and ossification. Histology of tissue from autopsy showed intraparenchymal pulmon...

Post-traumatic pseudoaneurysms of internal carotid arteries are uncommon. The patients may present with massive epistaxis due to rupture of the aneurysm into the sphenoid sinus. Early diagnosis and treatment is mandatory as the likelihood of exsanguinations increases with each subsequent episode of epistaxis. The clinical features of unilateral blindness and massive epistaxis after head injury ...

Chronic traumatic arteriovenous fistula (AVF) commonly results from an unrecognized vascular injury. In this report, there were two cases of chronic traumatic AVF of the legs with a long history of stab (case 1) and shotgun wounds (case 2). Both cases presented with varicose veins together with hyperpigmentation around the ankle of the affected leg. Angiograms showed a single large AVF in case ...

Repetitive minor vascular injuries caused by physical activity in athletes may lead to ischaemia of the upper extremities. In volleyball players in particular, traumatic aneurysm of the posterior circumflex humeral artery has been reported to be a cause of ischaemia of the arm and hand. Such an aneurysm is described here; it was treated successfully with endovascular embolisation.

We describe a case of traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the middle meningeal artery in a patient after a head trauma. The aneurysm was found incidentally and resolved spontaneously without any intervention; this outcome suggests that middle meningeal artery aneurysm may not require treatment in all cases and can be followed conservatively with follow-up conventional angiography.

Pulmonary artery (PA) rupture caused by a PA Swan-Ganz catheter is a rare complication but remains fatal in almost 50% of cases. False aneurysm of the PA is a rare presentation of PA rupture and should be considered as a possible diagnosis in a patient with a new lung mass after PA catheterization. We present a case of sudden-onset pulmonary alveolar hemorrhage during cardiovascular surgery due...

OBJECTIVES A recent surgical series documented that in traumatic aortic rupture (TAR) a surgical repair postponed to the treatment of associated lesions reduced operative and overall mortality. Nevertheless some isolated cases may develop to free rupture. Until now, no imaging follow-up studies of post-traumatic aortic lesions have been reported in the early stage. The aim of this study is to a...
