We report here on our application of the socket lift technique to create a transplant socket for the transplanted maxillary molar. These outcomes suggest that this technique is likely to be effective for tooth transplantation when the maxillary sinus bottom is close to the alveolar crest.
The influence of different non-resorbable suture materials on the healing of tooth extraction wounds was examined in 120 adult male albino rats. Nylon gave the best biological results for healing of the mucosa and dental socket. Silk and cotton produced considerable delay of socket healing. Healing was only mildly delayed by polyester suture, with a short moderate inflammatory reaction at the i...
The aim of this paper was to evaluate if the placement of microfibrillar collagen hemostat (MCH) into a dental socket interfered with healing. General anesthesia was administered to 30 adult male Albinus Wistar rats and the maxillary right central incisor was extracted. In the control group after each tooth was extracted, the socket was sutured. In the MCH group after each tooth was extracted, ...
BACKGROUND Socket preservation after tooth extraction is one of the indications of bone grafting to enhance preorthodontic condition. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of socket preservation on the immediate tooth movement, alveolar ridge height preservation and orthodontic root resorption. MATERIALS AND METHODS In a split-mouth technique, twelve sites in three dogs were inves...
This case series evaluated the clinical efficacy of autogenous tooth bone graft material (AutoBT) in alveolar ridge preservation of an extraction socket. Thirteen patients who received extraction socket graft using AutoBT followed by delayed implant placements from Nov. 2008 to Aug. 2010 were evaluated. A total of fifteen implants were placed. The primary and secondary stability of the placed i...
introduction : preservation of bone volume immediately after tooth removal might be necessary to optimize the success of implant placement. the aim of this study was to compare bone dimensional changes following tooth extraction without bio-oss and with bio-oss and a collagen membrane in the dental socket. materials and methods: in this experimental interventional study, thirty subjects who req...
BACKGROUND Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO) is an estrogen deficiency condition that causes severe loss of bone mass in the vertebrae and long bones. We explored the effect and the possible underlying mechanism of the extracts of Astragalus (AE) on the tooth alveolar bone rebuilding progress of postmenopausal osteoporosis of PMO animal models. MATERIAL AND METHODS The PMO models were acquire...
abstract dry socket is undoubtedly on tne most distressing post operative sequel of teeth extraction. it occurs in spite of the most careful aseptic procedures and regardless of the ability and skills of the surgeon. the purpose of this study was to determin the relative frequency of dry socket after mandibular wisdom teeth extraction and defining the risk factors corresponding to this complica...
INTRODUCTION Gossypiboma (foreign body granuloma) in the tooth socket as a complication of tooth removal is rare. Several cases of gossypiboma have been reported after orthopedic, abdominal, otorhinolaryngology, or plastic surgery, but there has been only one reported case after oral surgery. CASE PRESENTATION A 42-year-old Caucasian German-speaking Swiss woman applied to our clinic for remov...
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to describe an experimental surgical technique to be used in the evaluation of bone grafts in rabbits. METHODS The operative technique was performed in jaws, with external approach from the labial commissure to the last molar tooth. An incision about 1cm extended forward to the alveolar ridge, followed by a exposing the cervical region of the alveolar bone an...
