The existence of polarizable anions at the outermost layer of electrolyte solutions has received much recent attention from both theory and experiment, but remains controversial. Anions can be probed directly in the UV via their strong charge-transfer-to-solvent (CTTS) transitions. We have recently described experimental characterizations of enhanced concentrations of several anions at the air-...
Evaluation of a new proton sponge, bis-1,1,8,8-(tetramethylguanidino)naphtalene (TMGN), in substituted phenols O-alkylation by methyl iodide in DMF has been studied. Kinetic measurements were performed in N,N-dimethylformamide-d7 and followed by H NMR using stoichiometric amounts of reagents. Plot of the results shows that the reaction follows an almost perfect second order rate law. However th...
the electrochemical preparation of poly-n-methylpyrrole (pmpy) coated platinum electrode in chloroform in the presence of tetrabutylammonium perchlorate, hexafluorophosphate, hydrogensulphate, periodate and iodide as supporting electrolytes was performed. the influence of electrosynthesis method, dopant anion type and operation temperature on electrochemical behavior of polymer were demonstrate...
The cloud point of the surfactant tetrabutylammonium dodecyl sulfate is shown to be a function of the tetrabutylammonium counterion concentration in the aqueous phase whether the counterions are provided by the surfactant or both the surfactant and added tetrabutylammonium bromide. The micellized surfactant dissociates 17% of its counterions to aqueous phase.
The mechanism by which four Lewis bases, triethylamine, tetrabutylammonium thiocyanate, tetrabutylammonium azide and tetrabutylammonium cyanide, catalyse the addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to aldehydes is studied by a combination of kinetic and spectroscopic methods. The reactions can exhibit first or second order kinetics corresponding to three different reaction mechanisms. Spectroscopic ...
The aquatic ecotoxicity of chemicals involved in the manufacturing process of thin film transistor liquid crystal displays was assessed with a battery of four selected acute toxicity bioassays. We focused on tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH, CAS No. 75-59-2), a widely utilized etchant. The toxicity of TMAH was low when tested in the 72 h-algal growth inhibition test (Pseudokirchneriellia sub...
