In the title compound, C(18)H(14)N(4)O(2)·C(8)H(6)O(4), both types of mol-ecule lie on inversion centers. In the N,N'-bis-(pyridin-3-yl)terephthalamide mol-ecule, the pyridine ring forms a dihedral angle of 11.33 (9)° with the central benzene ring. In the crystal, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds connect the components into a three-dimensional network.

A chemosensor compound (1) consisting of a central ferrocene with two butylaminomethyl arms showed unexpected facile electrochemical oxidation of the secondary amines in proximity to the ferrocene, which was utilized for electrochemical discrimination of phthalic acid selectively over two other isomers, isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid.

In the crystal structure of the title compound, 2C(8)H(6)O(4)·3C(20)H(22)N(4), there are three independent 2,2'-dimethyl-1,1'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)dibenzimidazole mol-ecules, each of which lies on an inversion centre. The terephthalic acid mol-ecules are linked to adjacent 2,2'-dimethyl-1,1'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)dibenzimidazole mol-ecules via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

In the title compound, 2C(8)H(6)O(4)·C(10)H(8)N(2), the 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on an inversion centre. In the crystal structure, strong inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds between the terephthalic acid and 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules lead to the formation of chains with graph-set motif C(2) (2)(8) along the diagonal of the bc plane.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(10)H(8)N(2)·C(8)H(6)O(4), consists of one half-mol-ecule of each moiety, 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) and terephthalic acid (bdc), both being located on crystallographic inversion centers. They are linked together via strong inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming infinite chains propagating along [1-21]. The chains are further connected through C-H⋯O...

The possibility of converting polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste into terephthalic acid as a primary material by using different techniques through trans-esterification, with an alcohol and through hydrolysis in basic medium, has been investigated. In addition, utilization of activating agents such as inorganic salts and phase transfer catalysts has been investigated. Mineral water and beve...

−Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) is critical to the development of the polyester industry. PTA production consists of p-xylene oxidation reaction and crude terephthalic acid (CTA) hydropurification. The hydropurification process is necessary to eliminate 4-carboxybenzaldehyde (4-CBA), which is a harmful byproduct of the oxidation reaction process. Based on the dynamic model of the hydropurific...
