Salmonella enterica serovar Arizona (S. enterica subspecies IIIa) is a common Salmonella isolate from reptiles and can cause serious systemic disease in humans. The spv virulence locus, found on large plasmids in Salmonella subspecies I serovars associated with severe infections, was confirmed to be located on the chromosome of serovar Arizona. Sequence analysis revealed that the serovar Arizon...

The power generation capacity of solar photovoltaic systems (SPV) depends on input solar radiation (insolation) and ambient temperature. To improve the design efficiency of the system, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques has to be utilized while installing SPV systems. A comparative analysis of three maximum power point tracking techniques for solar photovoltaic systems has been pres...

Background and Objectives: Salmonella spp. are one of the most important zoonotic agents with a worldwide distribution. Asymptomatic cats which may excrete Salmonella. spp for weeks can play important role in environmental contamination. The aim of this study was to access the role of rural cats in dissemination of Salmonella. spp. Methods: Salmonella excretion was evaluated in 170 samples (...

OBJECTIVE Pulse (PPV) and systolic pressure variation (SPV) quantify variations in arterial pressure related to heart-lung interactions and have been introduced as biomarkers of preload dependency to guide fluid treatment in mechanically ventilated patients. However, respiratory intra-thoracic pressure changes during spontaneous breathing are considered too small to affect preload and stroke vo...

BACKGROUND A dynamic preload index such as stroke volume variation (SVV) is not as reliable in spontaneous breathing (SB) patients as in mechanically ventilated patients. This study examined the hypothesis that spectral analysis of hemodynamic variables during paced breathing (PB) activity may be a feasible index of volume changes and fluid responsiveness, despite insufficient respiratory chang...

Dysmotility of lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is common following gastric surgery. This may result in gastroesophageal reflux which frequently seen following gastric surgery. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of various surgical procedures on esophagogastric motility in dog and human. Esophago-gastric motility was investigated by strain gauge transducers during fasted and fed ...

A new study reports that the RhoGAP SPV-1 senses membrane curvature and cell stretch in the Caenorhabditis elegans spermatheca. Without SPV-1, the cells of the spermatheca are hypercontractile, leading to deformation and rapid ejection of the fertilized eggs. The spermatheca may provide a paradigm for understanding how cells detect mechanical stimuli in vivo.

Sheeppox virus (SPV) and goatpox virus (GPV) belong to the capripoxvirus genus of Poxviridae family. Sheeppox and goatpox along with contagious ecthyma (CE) are endemic diseases in Iran. Capripox laboratory conformation based on virological and serological techniques are time consuming, laborious and most of them of low specificity, because of close antigenic relationship between capripoxviru...

A virus is associated with a strain of transovarially-transmitted SR-spirochetes, NSR, of Drosophila. This virus, designated spv-1, is able to infect and to multiply in another strain of SR-spirochetes, WSR, thereby eliminating the SR condition from the host flies. Spv-1 contains DNA, has a buoyant density of 1.480 in CsCl, and is spherical in shape, measuring 50-60 nm in diameter.
