The objective of this paper is to develop a GME formulation for the class of spatial structural equations models (S-SEM) into a panel data framework. In this respect, two innovatory aspects are introduced: (i) the formalization of the GME estimation approach of SEM to allow for spatial heterogeneity and spatial dependence (spatially sampled data); (ii) the extension of the methodology panel data.
This paper investigates spatial panel data models with spatially and serially correlated disturbances. We rst discuss the short panels and consider their estimation by both xed e¤ects and random e¤ects speci cations. With a between equation properly de ned, the di¤erence of the random vs. xed e¤ects models can be highlighted. We show that the random e¤ects estimate is a pooling of the within...
Software Product Lines (SPL) are widely used to manage variability in the automotive industry. In a rapidly changing industrial environment, model transformations are necessary to aid in automating the evolution of SPLs. However, existing transformation technologies are not well-suited to handling industrial-grade variability in software artifacts. We present a case study where we “lift” a prev...
xsmle is a new command for spatial analysis using Stata. We consider the quasi-maximum likelihood estimation of a wide set of both fixedand randomeffects spatial models for balanced panel data. Of special note is that xsmle allows to handle unbalanced panels thanks to its full compatibility with the mi suite of commands, to use spatial weight matrices in the form of both Stata matrices and spma...
Specification of a model is one of the most fundamental problems in econometrics. In most cases, specification tests are carried out in a piecemeal fashion, for example, testing the presence of one-effect at a time ignoring the potential presence of other forms of misspecification. It is also much to expect from a practioners to estimate a complex general model and then to carry out specificati...
This paper aims to model total electricity demand (incremental) in order to estimate price and income elasticities using provincial data and the spatial panel data method. Electricity demand at the province level is influenced by climatic zones, which can be divided into temperate, cold and sub-tropical. This paper uses time series data for electricity demand in Iran’s 28 provinces, taking into...
A spatial dynamic panel data approach is adopted to study regional growth convergence in the U.S. economy. In the neoclassical growth model, regions and countries are assumed to be independent from each other, which may not be valid in the real world. We introduce technological spillovers into the neoclassical framework, showing that the convergence rate is higher and there is spatial interacti...
This paper examines possibilities and consequences of introducing variability with respect to pricing, accounting, and way of payment into software product lines for developers, vendors, and customers. The global goal is the derivation of an extensible conceptual framework for vendors of SPLs which adds relevant economic variability to the SPL. The capability of economic methods for pricing and...
