We describe the current state of progress on the maximal subgroup problem for the Monster sporadic simple group. Any unknown maximal subgroup is an almost simple group whose socle is in one of 19 specified isomorphism classes.
(iii) G is an ajfine group, that is, the socle of G is a vector space V, where V s= {ZpY for some prime p and n=p ; moreover, if Go is the stabilizer of the zero vector in V then G = VG0, Go is an irreducible subgroup of GLd(p), and GQ has exactly two orbits on the non-zero vectors of V. The rank 3 groups under (i) are given by the classification of the 2-transitive groups with simple socle (se...
We determine all maximal subgroups of the almost simple groups with socle T = PSL(2, q), that is, of all groups G such that PSL(2, q) 6 G 6 PΓL(2, q), with q ≥ 4.
In this paper we study the finite dimensional Lie p-algebras, L splitting on its abelian p-socle, the sum of its minimal abelian p-ideals. In addition, some properties of the Frattini p-subalgebra of L are pointed
A plausible conjecture states that an element of the Jacobson radical of the endomorphism ring of an abelian p-group increases the height of any non-zero element of the socle. I construct a counter-example.
Leavitt path algebras are shown to be algebras of right quotients of their corresponding path algebras. Using this fact we obtain maximal algebras of right quotients from those (Leavitt) path algebras whose associated graph satisfies that every vertex connects to a line point (equivalently, the Leavitt path algebra has essential socle). We also introduce and characterize the algebraic counterpa...
We prove that the Auslander-Reiten conjecture holds for commutative standard graded artinian algebras, in two situations: The first is under the assumption that the modules considered are graded and generated in a single degree. The second is under the assumption that the algebra is generic Gorenstein of socle degree 3.
The main aim of this article is to study (v, k, λ)-symmetric designs admitting a flag-transitive and point-primitive automorphism group G whose socle is PSL(3, q). We indeed show that the only possible design satisfying these conditions is a Desarguesian projective plane PG(2, q) and G ⩾ PSL(3, q).
