We extend the definition of chordal from graphs to clutters. The resulting family generalizes both chordal graphs and matroids, and obeys many of the same algebraic and geometric properties. Specifically, the independence complex of a chordal clutter is shellable, hence sequentially Cohen-Macaulay; and the circuit ideal of a certain complement to such a clutter has a linear resolution. Minimal ...

In this paper, we explore the relation between index of reducibility and Hilbert coefficients in local rings. Consequently, main result study provides a characterization sequentially Cohen-Macaulay ring terms its non-parameter ideals. As corollaries to theorem, obtain characterizations Gorenstein/Cohen-Macaulay Chern

In this survey paper we first present the main properties of sequentially Cohen-Macaulay modules. Some basic examples are provided to help reader with quickly getting acquainted topic. We then discuss two generalizations notion sequential Cohen-Macaulayness which inspired by a theorem J\"urgen Herzog and third author.

Associated to a simple undirected graph G is a simplicial complex ∆G whose faces correspond to the independent sets of G. We call a graph G shellable if ∆G is a shellable simplicial complex in the non-pure sense of Björner-Wachs. We are then interested in determining what families of graphs have the property that G is shellable. We show that all chordal graphs are shellable. Furthermore, we cla...

This paper shows that if [Formula: see text] is a homomorphic image of Cohen–Macaulay local ring, then text]-module sequentially generalized and only the difference between Hilbert coefficients arithmetic degrees for all distinguished parameter ideals are bounded.

Let I be a monomial ideal of the polynomial ring S = K[x1, . . . , x4] over a field K. Then S/I is sequentially Cohen-Macaulay if and only if S/I is pretty clean. In particular, if S/I is sequentially Cohen-Macaulay then I is a Stanley ideal.
