We read with great interest the article by Larghi et al. [1], a multicenter cohort study about prevalence and risk factors of extrapancreatic malignancies (EPMs) in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) of the pancreas. They concluded that their prevalence was high, especially for colorectal carcinoma, renal cell and thyroid cancers. IPMN harbored some genetic mutations i...

Rats exposed to an elevated plus maze (EPM) with four open arms display antinociception while on the maze and hyperalgesia immediately upon removal. Little is known about the neural mechanisms underlying EPM-induced antinociception and the subsequent hyperalgesia except that the antinociception is not mediated by endogenous opioids. The objective of the present study was to test the hypothesis ...

This study is a comparative analysis and meta-analysis of three randomized clinical trials. Children with spastic diplegia received either 'selective' dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) plus physiotherapy (SDR+PT) or PT without SDR (PT-only). Common outcome measures were used for spasticity (Ashworth scale) and function (Gross Motor Function Measure [GMFM]). Baseline and 9- to 12-month outcome data were po...

Abstract. In this note, a new concept called SDR-matrix is proposed, which is an infinite lower triangular matrix obeying the generalized rule of David star. Some basic properties of SDR-matrices are discussed and two conjectures on SDR-matrices are presented, one of which states that if a matrix is a SDR-matrix, then so is its matrix inverse (if exists).

There is a growing trend toward electronic performance monitoring (EPM) to track the performance of workers engaged in computer-based tasks. Despite the possible productivity advantages of this approach to work management, the use of EPM may produce stress through work overload, negative computer feedback, loss of incentive pay and threat of job loss. These stress effects are most likely to occ...

Equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM) can be caused by either of 2 related protozoan parasites, Sarcocystis neurona and Neospora hughesi, although S. neurona is the most frequent etiologic pathogen. Horses are commonly infected, but clinical disease occurs infrequently; the factors influencing disease occurrence are not well understood. Risk factors for the development of EPM include the pre...
