We report the synthesis of ZnSe:Mn quantum dots (QDs) in the dispersed phase of a microemulsion template consisting of p-xylene as the continuous phase, water as the dispersed phase, and an amphiphilic block copolymer (Pluronic P105) as the surfactant. The Zn and Mn precursors were Zn-acetate and Mn-acetate, respectively, dissolved in the aqueous dispersed phase. Hydrogen selenide gas was bubbl...

GaN nanoparticles, 3-4 nm in size, are synthesized in a microemulsion using liquid ammonia as the polar droplet phase. Surprisingly, GaN is readily crystalline although prepared at -40 °C. The nanoparticles show a band gap of 4.4 eV as well as light emission with its maximum at 336 nm. Both confirm the expected quantum-confinement effect.

In the present work glipizide based microemulsion was developed and its usefulness as topical drug carrier system for the non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) was investigated. Microemulsion was prepared by water titration method using oleic acid as oil phase, tween-80 as surfactant and propylene glycol as co-surfactant. Menthol as a permeation enhancer was added to a final drug-load...

A topical preparation containing aceclofenac was developed using an o/w microemulsion system. Isopropyl myristate was chosen as the oil phase as it showed a good solubilising capacity. Pseudo-ternary phase diagrams were used to obtain the concentration ranges of the oil, surfactant (Labrasol) and co-surfactant (plurol oleique) for microemulsion formation. Five different formulations were formul...

CdS nanocrystals were prepared in water-in-oil microemulsions. The nanocrystal properties, absorption and luminescence spectra and size distributions, were monitored at different times after mixing the microemulsions of the two precursors to obtain information on their growth mechanism. In particular, CdS nanocrystals were prepared using water-in-heptane or water-in-nonane microemulsions. The r...

BACKGROUND In the recent years nanostructured materials have been the focus of researches due to their wide-spread possibilities to provide new shapes and structures for some materials. Microemulsions can provide uniform nano-sized droplets for templating. Microemulsions are isotropic, thermodynamically-stable systems of oil, water and surfactant with a 20-200 nm droplet size. They can be prepa...

The purposes of the present study were to develop a self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) containing bortezomib, a proteasome inhibitor. The solubility of the drug was evaluated in 15 pharmaceutical excipients. Combinations of oils, surfactants and cosurfactants were screened by drawing pseudo-ternary phase diagrams. The system exhibiting the largest region of microemulsion was co...

copper sulfate was used as a precursor to prepare cuo nanoparticles in reverse micelles (o/w microemulsion).  this is a technique which allows the preparation of ultrafine metal oxide nanoparticles within the size ranging from 50 to 60 nm. the preparation of nano copper (ii) oxide studied was investigated in the inverse microemulsion system. therefore the nucleation of metal particles proceeds ...
