In present study the photocatalytic degradation of commercial azo dye Direct Red 5B (DR5B dye) has been carried out in presence of recently developed photocatalyst: methylene Blue immobilized resin Dowex-11, under visible light. The effect of process parameters such as variation of the dye concentration, pH, light intensity and amount of catalyst loading on the reaction rate has been studied .T...

A highly efficient and industrially viable catalyst design for the direct synthesis of H(2)O(2) from H(2) and O(2) was realized by the encapsulation of Pd nanoparticles in polyelectrolyte multi-layers on a sulfonated resin. The continuous production of 9.9 wt% H(2)O(2) was achieved under intrinsically safe and non-corrosive conditions without any loss of activity.

Urea-formaldehyde resins modified by melamine were synthesized by four catalysts (H2SO4, HCl, H3PO4, and NaOH/NH4OH) with a F/U/M molar ratio of 1.38/1/0.074. Resin structure and thermal behavior were studied by C-NMR and DSC techniques. For H2SO4, HCl, and H3PO4 catalysts, resins were prepared by two stage pH adjustment: the first pH stage was set at 1.25 (H3PO4 pH 1.60) and second pH stage wa...

Hydrolysis of cyanuric acid, melamine, melem, atrazine and melamine-formaldehyde resin was found to be catalyzed by an A1203 catalyst. The reactions occur irreversibly with cleavage of the s-triazine ring between 240 and 450°C. The s-triazine-ring is hydrolyzed to ammonia and carbon dioxide, and the substituted groups to the corresponding molecules by addition of hydrogen.

Monoclinic CuO crystallite in grams has been obtained from resin bound Cu(II)-1,10-phenanthroline complex, R(-)[Cu(1,10-phen)(2)](2+) that becomes a recyclable catalyst for oxidative phenol coupling (OPC) reaction. Thus an exclusively intuitive blue fluorescing perylene derivative is derived from colorless 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene (2,7-DHN) in high yield.

Highly diastereo- and enantioselective cyclopropanation of aromatic α,β-unsaturated aldehydes was achieved using a resin-supported peptide catalyst under aqueous conditions. In the peptide sequence, the residue possessing an oxygen atom with the appropriate length of the side chain was essential for attaining good diastereoselectivity.

The objective of this research was to provide a useful approach of polymer synthesis for accelerating the fast cure of phenol-urea-formaldehyde (PUF) resin as wood adhesive by optimizing its structure and composition. The PUF resins containing high contents of very reactive groups such as para-methylol groups were synthesized by reacting methylolurea, phenol, and formaldehyde in the presence of...

a most effective and less energy demanding method of producing fatty esters, diol esters, by esterifying fatty acids, with neopentyl and ethylenglycol alcohols in the presence of an acidic ion exchange resin catalyst(polyestyrendivinylbenzensulfated) was investigated at elevated temperature. in this process an azeotroping agent, toluene, was used to facilitate continuous removal of water by dis...

The optimization and kinetics of the ring-opening reaction of an epoxidized biodiesel (epoxidized rapeseed oil methyl ester) (EBD) with 2-ethyl hexanol (2-EH) were studied. The determined optimum conditions were 4:1 2-EH/oil molar ratio, 90 °C, 18 h, and 7 wt % of Amberlyst D001 (dry) catalyst; the product's oxirane oxygen content was 0.081% with 38.32 mm²/s viscosity at 40 °C. The catalyst ret...

While original epoxy resin-based self-healing systems used the commercially available endo-isomer of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), the exo-stereoisomer is known to have much faster olefin metathesis reaction rates with first-generation Grubbs' catalyst. Here, we measure the energy to failure of healed specimens as a function of healing time and compare the kinetics of damage repair for endo- and ex...
