Aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV), calculated from pulse transit time (PTT) using 2 separate pulse recordings over a known distance, is a significant biomarker of cardiovascular risk. This study evaluates a novel method of determining PTT from waveform decomposition of central aortic pressure using a single pulse measurement. Aortic pressure was estimated from a transformed radial pulse and deco...

Pulse transit time (PTT) is being widely pursued for cuff-less blood pressure (BP) monitoring. Most efforts have employed the time delay between ECG and finger photoplethysmography (PPG) waveforms as a convenient surrogate of PTT. However, these conventional pulse arrival time (PAT) measurements include the pre-ejection period (PEP) and the time delay through small, muscular arteries and may th...

Phototherapies such as photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT), due to their specific spatiotemporal selectivity and minimal invasiveness, have been widely investigated as alternative treatments of malignant diseases. Graphene and its derivatives not only have been used as carriers to deliver photosensitizers for PDT, but also as photothermal conversion agents (PTCAs) for PTT....

Two experiments invoh-ing voluntary control of pulse transmission time (PTT) to the ear were performed. In Experiment I (within-subject, 3 sessions), U male subjects attempting to control PTf with feedback showed significant bidirectional PTf changes in the target directions accompanied by parallel changes in pre-ejection period (PEP). There was no evidence ofconcomitant changes in respiration ...

Petersen-Gaussian (PG) networks are a broad family of interconnection networks for multi processor systems proposed recently. In this paper, a special case of PG networks, called PetersenTwisted-Torus (PTT) network, is considered. We analyze the diameter of PTT network, and find that PTT has smaller diameter and lower costing requirement than the well-known honeycomb mesh, diagonal mesh, torus,...

Penile traction therapy (PTT) is a new therapeutic option for men with Peyronie's disease (PD). However, it has a long history of use in other fields of medicine including bone, skin, skeletal muscle, and Dupuytren's. Mechanotransduction, or gradual expansion of tissue by traction, leads to the formation of new collagen tissue by cellular proliferation. As a molecular result, continuous extensi...

Proliferating trichilemmal tumor (PTT) is an uncommon neoplasm arising from the follicular isthmus. Its histological characteristic is the presence of trichilemmal keratinization. PTT usually presents as a solitary nodule on the scalp of elderly women. We describe a case of a PTT on the gluteal region (buttocks) of a 16-year-old female, presenting as a solitary nodule.

A new technique in spring ligament reconstruction using medial half of posterior tibial tendon is demonstrated as a means of supporting the arch. In addition a new concept of double bundle PTT reconstruction based on anatomical attachments of original PTT is presented with the goal of obtaining the full function of PTT.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate a noninvasive measure of arousal, the pulse transit time (PTT), as a screening tool for obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) in an unselected population of symptomatic children, compared with overnight polysomnography (PSG). A secondary objective included comparing the diagnostic performance of PTT with continuous pulse oximetry recorded during PSG. DESIGN ...

INTRODUCTION Transcription factor p53 has a powerful tumor suppressing function that is associated with many cancers. Since the molecular weight of p53 is 53 kDa, it is difficult to transport across cell membranes. Thymidine dinucleotide (pTT) is an oligonucleotide that can activate the p53 transcription factor and trigger the signal transduction cascade. However, the negative charge and high w...
