BACKGROUND There is an ongoing debate regarding health-related on-pack information appearing on products with low nutritional quality. The purpose of the study was to contribute to this discussion by examining the relationship between health-related on-pack information and the overall nutritional value of highly processed ready-to-eat breakfast cereals (RTECs). METHODS Maximum variation sampl...

introduction using agro-industrial by-products in ruminants feeding could help in semi arid climate condition throughout the year. raisin by-product is produced in huge magnitude in malayer city, hamedan province. local different raisin by-products which produced during machinery cleaning and sorting of sun dried treated grapevine cluster (vitisvinifera l. cv. sultana), are as:1) some outer lay...

The study aim of this was to define the critical anatomic region of the premaxilla by evaluating dimensions of nasopalatine canal, buccal bone plate (BBP) and palatal bone plate (PBP). 230 CBCTs were selected with both, one or no upper central incisors present (+/+, -/+, -/-) and periodontal condition was evaluated. T-student test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and a multivariant-linear regressi...

We studied the utility of performing a penicillin binding protein 2a latex agglutination (PBP-LA) assay directly on Bactec blood culture broth samples containing Staphylococcus aureus to rapidly detect methicillin resistance. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of this method were 94.1%, 97.5%, 98%, and 92.9%, respectively.

This study examines the effect of adding coffee husks (CH), cacao by-product (CBP) and passion fruit (PBP) (fresh-matter basis) in silage elephant grass cv. Napier on nutritional characteristics. The experiment was laid out a completely randomized design with 3 × 4 factorial arrangement represented by three additives (CH, CBP or PBP) four inclusion levels (0, 12, 24 36%). Four replicates were u...

Attention has been recently focused on the role of the rpoS (formerly katF) gene product as a regulator during the transition from the exponential growth phase to the stationary phase as well as during nutritional starvation. It has been demonstrated that RpoS is an alternate sigma factor which would bind to promoters of genes induced at these times. It was previously noted that rpoS mutants do...

The gene encoding penicillin-binding protein 4 (PBP 4) of Bacillus subtilis, pbpD, was cloned by two independent methods. PBP 4 was purified, and the amino acid sequence of a cyanogen bromide digestion product was used to design an oligonucleotide probe for identification of the gene. An oligonucleotide probe designed to hybridize to genes encoding class A high-molecular-weight PBPs also identi...

We have sequenced the penicillin-binding domains of the complete repertoire of penicillin-binding proteins and MurM from 22 clinical isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae that span a wide range of beta-lactam resistance levels. Evidence of mosaicism was found in the genes encoding PBP 1a, PBP 2b, PBP 2x, MurM, and, possibly, PBP 2a. Five isolates were found to have identical PBP and MurM sequenc...

The low-Mr penicillin-binding protein (PBP)/DD-transpeptidase of Streptomyces K15 is synthesized in the form of a 291-amino acid-residue precursor possessing a cleavable 29-amino acid-residue signal peptide. Sequence-similarity searches and hydrophobic-cluster analysis show that the Streptomyces K15 enzyme, the Escherichia coli PBPs/DD-carboxy-peptidases 5 and 6, the Bacillus subtilis PBP/DD-ca...
