Recently, polyanion precipitation assays for low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol have been found to underestimate their analyte in normolipidemic samples (Siekmeier et al., Clin Chim Acta 1988;177:221-30). Therefore, accuracy, specificity, and interference by nonesterified fatty acids have been studied for three precipitants (obtained by heparin, dextran sulfate, or polyvinyl sulfate prec...

Background: Nowadays, in order to preserve the environment and sustainable development, the use of natural and renewable resources is a priority for industries. High performance and specific structure of nano-biocompatible materials has attracted researchers. In this research, alginate polymer, which is generally obtained from marine sources such as algae, was added to polyvinyl alcohol nanofi...

Polyvinyl alcohol and calcium oxide composites appeared by casting technique. The calcium oxide added to polyvinyl alcohol with different weight percentages are (0,1,2 and 3) wt.%. Results showed that the absorbance increases with increase the weight percentage of calcium oxide. The absorption coefficient, extinction coefficient, refractive index and real and imaginary parts of dielectric const...

Tabrizi et al., 1996 synthesizes polymeric prodrugs of the diclofenac by attaching Diclofenac to poychloromethylstyrene, polyvinyl chloroacetate and polyethylene glycol through the hydrolyzable ester bonds, and assessed in vitro for usefulness as diclofenac prodrugs. These polymers were obsereved potentially useful as polymeric prodrugs but polyvinyl chloroacetate was found an appropriate carri...

Films of oriented bacteriorhodopsin have been formed in polyvinyl alcohol with excellent optical quality. Images with high contrast have been impressed and erased on these films. Second-harmonic microscopy has been used to read the image on a bacteriorhodopsin-polyvinyl alcohol film without erasure. The potential of these films for molecular information storage and computation is discussed.
