Membrane microparticles (MMP) released from apoptotic cells deliver signals that secure the anti-inflammatory response beyond the nearest proximity of the apoptotic cell. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) are sentinels prepared to detect cellular processes that endanger the organism. They play a key role in the regulation of both pro- and anti-inflammatory immune responses. Based on the assump...

This paper presents a unified mathematical derivation of the asymptotic behaviour of the three main forms of partial directed coherence (PDC). Numerical examples are used to contrast PDC, gPDC (generalized PDC) and iPDC (information PDC) as to meaning and applicability and, more importantly, to show their essential statistical equivalence insofar as connectivity inference is concerned.

Parapoxvirus ovis (PPVO) is known for its immunostimulatory capacities and has been successfully used to generate vector vaccines effective especially in non-permissive host species. Murine conventional and plasmacytoid dendritic cells (cDC and pDC) are able to recognize PPVO. The PPVO-sensing receptor on pDC is hitherto unknown. In this study we aimed to define the pattern recognition receptor...

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) are thought to be pivotal in the first line of defense against viral infections. Although previous studies have suggested that pDC regulate the immune response against respiratory syncytial virus, their role in pulmonary infection with influenza virus has remained unclear. Using mice with GFP-tagged pDC, we observed a marked increase in pDC numbers in the lung...

In this paper technique applies is known as parallel distributed compensation (PDC). This PDC technique is used for the position control of a Magnetic Levitation system. Parallel Distributed Compensation technique is based on the TS-PDC type fuzzy model. In this paper it is shown that this PDC technique can be successfully used for the stabilization of Magnetic Levitation System at any arbitrar...

Use of channel reduction techniques that reduce the number of signals transmitted to a data acquisition (DAQ) module can lead to more efficient use of the DAQ module for PET with numerous readout channels. The purpose of this study was to develop a position decoder circuit (PDC) with a capacity to output the digital address and analog pulse of one interacted channel from numerous PET outputs. A...

A multicopy plasmid carrying the PDC1 gene (encoding pyruvate decarboxylase; Pdc) was introduced in Saccharomyces cerevisiae CEN. PK113-5D. The physiology of the resulting prototrophic strain was compared with that of the isogenic prototrophic strain CEN.PK113-7D and an empty-vector reference strain. In glucose-grown shake-flask cultures, the introduction of the PDC1 plasmid caused a threefold ...

Human plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) are important modulators of adaptive T cell responses during viral infections. Recently, we found that human pDC produce the serine protease granzyme B (GrB), thereby regulating T cell proliferation in a GrB-dependent manner. In this study, we demonstrate that intrinsic GrB production by pDC is significantly inhibited in vitro and in vivo by clinically u...

Small intestine plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) are poorly characterized. Here, we demonstrate that intestinal pDC show the characteristic plasma cell-like morphology, and are recognized by antibodies against B220, Ly6c, 120G8, and PDCA-1, markers that are typically expressed by pDC. Furthermore, intestinal pDC carry high levels of CCR9 and are largely absent in the intestine, but not in lun...

RATIONALE Unlike conventional dendritic cells, plasmacytoid DCs (PDC) are poor in antigen presentation and critical for type I interferon response. Though proposed to be present in human atherosclerotic lesions, their role in atherosclerosis remains elusive. OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of PDC in atherosclerosis. METHODS AND RESULTS We show that PDC are scarcely present in human athero...
