Two simple triphenylamine/oxadiazole derivatives were synthesized and fully characterized; their multifunctionality as highly efficient non-doped blue fluorescence, excellent red phosphorescent host and single-doped two-color based white OLEDs has been demonstrated.

2-Chloromethyl-5H/methyl benzimidazoles were condensed with different 2-substituted 5-mercapto-1,3,4-oxadiazoles and thiadiazoles, and 4-amino 2-substituted 5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles. The synthesized compounds were characterized and evaluated for their fungicidal activities, and few were found to be better fungicides than those commercially used.

A palladium-catalyzed reaction of γ,δ-unsaturated oxime esters with oxadiazoles afforded dihydropyrroles in good to excellent yields through an intramolecular iminopalladation/intermolecular direct heteroarene C-H alkylation cascade. This unprecedented iminoarylation of alkenes was subsequently realized in an enantioselective manner in the presence of a chiral bidentate phosphine ligand (Synphos).

In the title mol-ecule, C(24)H(20)N(2)O(4), the five-membered oxadiazole ring is nearly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.053 Å) and the phenyl ring of the biphenyl unit attached to it forms a dihedral angle of 73.2 (1)°; the other phenyl ring is close to coplanar with the oxadiazole ring [dihedral angle = 6.2 (2)°].

In the title compound, C(36)H(44)N(4)O(4)S, the dihedral angles between the central thio-phene ring and the pendent oxadiazole rings are 12.7 (2) and 13.7 (2)°, and the dihedral angles between the oxadiazole rings and their adjacent benzene rings are 6.1 (2) and 17.5 (2)°. An intra-molecular C-H⋯O inter-action may help to establish the conformation.
