In addition to the benefits, recent developments and cost reductions have sparked interest in fiber optical sensing. order optic sensors must be made, researchers integrated optoelectronic devices with telecommunications' byproducts. past few decades, numerous studies using various research methods been carried out. The most popular sensor types for optics are those based on intensity, phase, w...

Throughout the fiber optics industry, one is constantly hearing that without substantial improvements in production efficiency, new markets for fiber optic technology will remain elusive. It is therefore a common goal throughout the fiber optics industry to continually improve production processes. We propose a scalable improvement for a production step found in a wide range of fiber optic comp...

This study was undertaken to measure number, diameter and distribution of nerve fibers in normal human optic nerves. Twenty-two optic nerves of 19 subjects aged between 20 and 75 years were histomorphometrically examined using semithin sections obtained in a distance of 2 to 5 mm behind the globe. The mean nerve fiber count was 1,159,000 +/- 196,000 with a minimum of 816,000 and a maximum of 1,...

In this paper, we propose a temperature/thermal sensor that contains a Rhodamine-B sensing membrane. We applied two different sensing methods, namely, fiber-optic pulse width modulation (PWM) and an interdigitated capacitor (IDC)-based temperature sensor to measure the temperature from 5 °C to 100 °C. To the best of our knowledge, the fiber-optic PWM-based temperature sensor is reported for the...

This paper examines code-division multiple-access (CDMA) techniques used in unslotted fiber-optic packet networks. Since the inherent properties and signal processing of the conventional communication channels are different from those of the fiber-optic channels, new code sequences must be constructed for fiber-optic applications. In unslotted systems, the exact solution is very difficult to ob...

A high-accuracy (nonlinearity < 2nm) fiber-optic coupled displacement heterodyne measuring Michelson interferometer is developed. The primary limitation of accuracy encountered with this fiber-optic coupled heterodyne interferometer is the optical mixing arising from the imperfection of fiber-optic coupling system. The optical mixing results in the nonlinearity (first order and second order err...

We show that an all-fiber acousto-optic tunable filter based on polarization mode coupling using torsional acoustic wave is immune to the fiber bend and physical contact in the acousto-optic interaction region. We also propose and demonstrate a novel strain-free and size-reduced tunable filter with a 4-m-long fiber acousto-optic interaction region looped into a 5- cm-diameter coil.

Differentiated oligodendrocytes express neurite growth inhibitory proteins at a time when these cells are involved in the myelination of recently formed fiber pathways. As the process of myelination follows the completion of neurite outgrowth and is concurrent with the stabilization of fiber numbers in a pathway, we set out to determine whether myelination and fiber tract stability could be cau...
