We perform extensive Monte Carlo simulations of a two-dimensional bent hard-needle model in both its chiral zig-zag and its achiral bow-shape configurations and present their phase diagrams. We find evidence for a variety of stable phases: isotropic, quasi-nematic, smectic-C, anti-ferromorphic smectic-A, and modulated-nematic. We study the coexistence phase in two-dimensional Ising model. Optimizing the cluster expansion technique we are able to prove the phase separation phenomenon, with the Onsager value for the surface tension, in a range > where estimates from above the critical to within 19% and essentially coincides with the entropic bound.

We show that the value of the spontaneous magnetization for the twodimensional Ising model computed by Onsager is indeed, the appropriate derivative of the free energy with respect to the magnetic field. The argument is based on a simple application of the duality transformation.
