We are concerned with the minimization of multimodular functions. We show that for these functions local search gives the global optimum for a well-deened nite neighborhood. We apply this to a problem arising from manpower scheduling in call centers which has a multimodular objective function.
Older residents of high-deprivation areas walk less than those of low-deprivation areas. Previous research has shown that neighborhood built environment may support and encourage outdoor walking. The extent to which the built environment supports and encourages walking is called "walkability". This study examines inequalities in neighborhood walkability in high- versus low-deprivation areas and...
reserches show that relationship between human and residential places is based upo both emotional and identity structures. in other words, habitat place is not only the creator of a part of humanistic identity but also form a kind of sentimental and emotional bond that may result in tendency to maintain closeness to a specific place. therefor, formaton of emotional and identity relationship wit...
In this paper, we study bifurcation of limit cycles in cubic planar integrable, non-Hamiltonian systems. The systems are assumed to be Z2-equivariant with two symmetric centers. Particular attention is given to bifurcation of limit cycles in the neighborhood of the two centers under cubic perturbations. Such integrable systems can be classified as 11 cases. It is shown that different cases have...
Hexagonal dot packing offers advantages for electrophotographic (EP) printing over conventional dot placement on a square grid. These advantages derive from a reduced neighborhood with which each dot interacts. Hexagonal dot packing has exhibited better grayscale performance with small clusters. Multiple dot centers in each tile allow obtaining more gray levels for a particular screen frequency...
Background: Studies of neighborhood effects on health that are based on cohort data are subject to bias induced by neighborhoodrelated selective study participation. Methods: We used data from the RECORD Cohort Study (REsidential Environment and CORonary heart Disease) carried out in the Paris metropolitan area, France (n 7233). We performed separate and joint modeling of neighborhood determina...
Summary The performance of adaptive estimators that employ embedding in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces (RKHS) depends on the choice location basis centers. Parameter convergence and error approximation rates depend where how centers are distributed state‐space. In this article, we develop theory relates parameter to position We criteria for choosing a specific class systems by exploiting fac...
Within federally qualified health centers serving low-income, African American audiences, participatory approaches to system changes were organized through multidisciplinary committees that (a) drew on evidence-based guidelines, (b) guided system changes including the requirement of documenting smoking status and readiness to quit in encounter forms, (c) tested and refined practice improvements...
The selection of genes from microarray gene expression datasets has become an important research in cancer classification because such data typically consist of a large number of genes and a small number of samples. In this work, Neighborhood mutual information is retrieved to evaluate the relevance between genes and is used to stop information loss. Firstly, an improved Relief Feature Selectio...
