Bombyx mori and Bombyx mandarina are morphologically and physiologically similar. In this study, we compared the nucleotide variations in the complete mitochondrial (mt) genomes between the domesticated silkmoth, B. mori, and its wild ancestors, Chinese B. mandarina (ChBm) and Japanese B. mandarina (JaBm). The sequence divergence and transition mutation ratio between B. mori and ChBm are signif...

The theoretical description of the dynamics of liquids by the theory of Mori and Zwanzig is in practice mostly applied to simple liquids, where the molecules have no internal structure. Recently a second-order Mori-Zwanzig model for the incoherent intermediate scattering function has been employed in order to interpret quasielastic neutron scattering QENS experiments on water and aqueous soluti...

Established animal models have accelerated our understanding of the mechanisms involved in lifespan determination. However, more experimental animals are required to clarify the complex mechanisms behind the phenomena of aging and lifespan. In this study, we reported the variation of lifespan in nine distinct silkworm strains. Lifespan correlated significantly with BmFoxO gene expression in the...

We study birational transformations of certain fibtations of degree 4 del Pezzo surfaces over P, into other Mori fibre spaces, using Cox rings. We show that these Mori fibre spaces have a (relatively) big pliability although they are not rational. Our methods can be applied to study birational geometry of Mori dream spaces with low rank Cox ring.

Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) modification (SUMOylation) is an important and widely used reversible modification system in eukaryotic cells. It regulates various cell processes, including protein targeting, transcriptional regulation, signal transduction, and cell division. To understand its role in the model lepidoptera insect Bombyx mori, a recombinant baculovirus was constructed to ex...

In this paper we are mainly concerned with TW -domains, i.e., domains in which the wand t-operations coincide. Precisely, we investigate possible connections with related well-known classes. We characterize the TW -property in terms of divisoriality for Mori domains and Noetherian domains. Speci5cally, we prove that a Mori domain R is a TW -domain if and only if RM is a divisorial domain for ea...

The silkworm Bombyx mori L. is particularly susceptible to virus diseases, especially B. mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV). Disease resistance, along with high productivity, are important selection criteria for developing commercial hybrids of B. mori. We used bioassays and molecular markers linked to susceptibility/resistance to baculovirus infection to analyze the response of commercial B. mo...

Enterobacter mori strain 5-4 is a Gram-negative, motile, rod shaped, and facultatively anaerobic bacterium, which was isolated from a mixture of formation water (also known as oil-reservior water) and crude-oil in Karamay oilfield, China. To date, there is only one E. mori genome has been sequenced and very little knowledge about the mechanism of E. mori adapted to the petroleum reservoir. Here...

The domesticated silkworm, Bombyx mori Linn., a lepidopteran molecular model and an important economic insect that are emerging as an ideal molecular genetic resource for solving a broad range of biological problems. The silkworm, B. mori produces massive amount of silk proteins during the final stage of larval development. These proteins are stored in the middle silk gland and they are dischar...
