Abstract Background and Aim: Polish and glaze are 2 methods to decrease roughness and bacterial adhesion to the ceramic surfaces. This in vitro study assessed the effect of polish and glaze on the bacterial adhesion of 3 ceramics. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro trial, samples of zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate, lithium disilicate and monolithic zirconia ceramic specimens were mill...
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Contemporary pressable and computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM) ceramics exhibit good mechanical and esthetic properties. Their wear resistance compared with human enamel and traditional gold based alloys needs to be better investigated. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the 2-body wear resistance of human enamel, gold alloy, and 5 differe...
Water based inorganic alkali silicate binder of zinc rich primer was modified by adding acrylic resin derivatives. Several series of primer coatings were formulated by adding 5, 10 and 15 wt of acrylic and acrylic/styrene copolymer to potassium silicate binder and used as binder in zinc rich coatings. The formulated primers were applied on low carbon steel plates and the corrosion protection pr...
Vitrification by melting is being proposed as a convenient method to solidify different kinds of silicate and other oxide-based inorganic wastes. Incinerator bottom and fly ashes have been mixed with glass cullet, feldspar and clay by-products as melting fluxing agents. Washing, drying, and grinding pre-treatments followed by melting at 1450 C lead to the formation of glasses and glass-ceramics...
The purpose of this research was to study the marginal adaptation of eight calcium silicate-based materials when used to seal large furcal perforations, compared with one resin-modified glass-ionomer cement by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Сonclusion:All tested calcium silicate-based materials showed good marginal adaptation and are suitable for large furcal perforation repair.
The purpose of this study is to examine the diffusion and thermal shock behaviour alternative dental silicates. samples derived from BaO-SiO2 system have been produced by melting process followed heat treatment. X-ray examinations indicated that amount orthorhombic sanbornite phase rised due treatment temperature as revealed peak intensities. alteration morphology was evident scanning electron ...
